During his rise to political prominence, Sen. Marco Rubio frequently repeated a compelling version of his familys history that had special resonance in South Florida. He was the son of exiles, he told audiences, Cuban Americans forced off their beloved island after a thug, Fidel Castro, took power.
But a review of documents including naturalization papers and other official records reveals that the Florida Republicans account embellishes the facts. The documents show that Rubios parents came to the United States and were admitted for permanent residence more than two-and-a-half years before Castros forces overthrew the Cuban government and took power on New Years Day 1959.

so he’s a latino Brian Williams, how nice...
“Wow. The WaPo criticizing a conservative. Do they really think they have even a shred of credibility?”
Did Rubio REFUTE the Washington Post story? If so, please point us to a link. If not, then the story MUST BE TRUE, as the Washington Post is not the kind of publication that a national politician simply ‘ignores’.
“The WaPo criticizing a conservative. “
Exactly how is this clown a conservative?
kinda the way I look at it too.
The only choice for America; “CRUISE WITH CRUZ”!
“So ... Rubio doctors his family history. Obama hides his family history. Biden plagiarizes his family history.”
It’s not news when the Dems lie, but has Trump lied about his past, or Cruz, or Carson?
“He has very strange ears, they are really somewhat out of proportion to his head and they rather stand out.”
Perhaps ever-mutating ears is his biological reaction to himself lying about his past?
The Story Of Marco In The Bullrushes
When the mother saw that he was a fine child, she hid him from the Castroists and other democrats. When she could no longer hide him, she wove a ganja basket for him, and coated it with tar and with pitch. She put the little baby in it, and laid it in the reeds by the bank of the Miami drainage canal.
The GOP saw the basket and opened it and they saw the baby. He was crying, and they felt great sorry for him. This is one of the Cuban immigrant babies, they said. And they named him Marco.
Only if you imagine Marco Rubio is a conservative. Mr. Marco "Vote for Sale" Rubio owes his vote to the highest bidder. Mark Zuckerberg has filled that position in the past. Just like WaPo, the lying traitor Rubio hasn't a shred of credibility.
“Overall Marco is a fairly OK conservatives with flaws on immigration policies...”
If the country were heading into a ‘normal’ election year, with a host of issues to weigh against each other, I would agree with you. Other than Amnesty, I would probably like him. But that Senate Plan 2 years ago that he very nearly got signed into law would have meant THE END of our two-party system, once the 60 million or so illegals and extended families became naturalized.
Maybe in 12 years or so, but for now there is NO WAY that I can forgive something like that. We not whether or not he supports condoms for Sandra Flake, we’re talking about the PERMANENT LOSS of this country. If he had ANY INTEGRITY, he would have stayed in the Senate and try to make right for that egregious betrayal of his country.
the thing to remember about rubio the “traitor” was that all during the big push to get him elected by the conservative media (including even mark levin), there were small voices here and elsewhere (floridian insiders or intimates) painting the true picture of marco, but being ignored by me and others who were on the bandwagon because the press said otherwise. now when i see those small voices, i take them seriously and do my own research.
always, always, consider individuals with local knowledge and direct experiences over pundits and journalists (even “conservative” journalists) when dealing with politicians you don’t really know.
Lies? You want some lies, WaPo? Look at the scummy Clintons for starters.
1. Chelsea Clinton was jogging around the World Trade Center on 9/11.
2. She landed under sniper fire in Bosnia.
3. She was named after Sir Edmund Hillary.
4. Her family was dead broke when they left the White House
5. She claims to have been instrumental in the Northern Ireland peace process.
6. Shes just like you.
7. Benghazi it was a disgusting video!
8. Health-Care Gate - In 1997, federal judge Royce Lamberth levied $286,000 in sanctions against Bill Clintons administration for running amok in a cover-up of Hillary Clintons health-care task force.
9. Filegate - Confidential files of 900 former Reagan and Bush appointees were sent over to White House security chief Craig Livingstone.
10. Cattle-Futures Gate - How to turn a $1,000 investment in cattle futures into a profit of nearly $100,000 in only nine months.
11. Travelgate - May 1993, Hillary Clinton wrote an infamous note demanding action to get our people into the White House Travel Office. Billy Dale, its director, and six of his employees were quickly fired on the basis of rumors that they had engaged in criminal conduct; the rumors were cooked up in part by a 25-year-old cousin of Bill Clintons who wound up running the travel office.
12. Whitewater Gate
13. Billing-Records Gate
14. Vince Foster’s death was a suicide.
You are right. I had read an article a few months ago that said when Rubio was Speaker of the Florida House, he was all for OPEN BORDERS.
Then it was time to run for Senate, and he made it clear that there would be NO AMNESTY from him.
Then he was elected and we JUST BARELY survived his Amnesty push.
Now he’s running for President and making it clear that there would be NO AMNESTY from him.
...........how many times does he have to LIE TO US before we accept the fact that even handsome people with cute faces are perfectly capable of LYING through their teeth.
“Meanwhile, weve been presented with the complete, unvarnished truth about Obamas life.”
I have to agree with that. No stone will be left unturned in looking into the background of every GOP candidate. The dimoKKKRAT candidates background will remain buried.
What?
....sounds like shillary when she hit gun fire in where was it?....
Batista, the Cuban Dictator(1952-59) wasn’t much better than Castro.
Ted Cruz’s father was tortured by him before fleeing to the U.S.
I’m trying to figure out what STANDARD you hold before you believe a story.
In this case, the Washington Post reviewed immigration records, discovered Rubio is a LIAR, called his office, his office confirmed that Rubio is a LIAR, and then the Washington Post published the story.
My question is on what basis do you discredit the story (as in did Rubio dispute it? did he sue them?) - other than it was the Washington Post doing the research?
“Batista, the Cuban Dictator(1952-59) wasnt much better than Castro. Ted Cruzs father was tortured by him before fleeing to the U.S.”
That doesn’t make Rubio any less of a LIAR. And why should I believe anything regarding Rubio’s past, including what you posted, at this point?
