“Went back for the 10th anniversary a couple weeks ago. OMG! The recovery under Jindal is FANTASTIC and the economy is booming! I never should have left! New flood walls, storm remediation projects, drains, pumps, pump houses; the docks and wharves are thriving with ships and trucking companies, offshore oil drilling, new hotels, condos, offices, businesses...things that have needed doing for decades have been DONE in 7 years under Jindal, and this following the worst natural disaster in US history.”

That was all going on BEFORE Bobby Jindal took office, always has been. The public works — federally mandated and paid for.

The most laughable assertion concerns the bridge. It was not torn down and rebuilt, but refurbished. The legislature and voters approved the refurbishment in the 80s and work began on the bridge in April 2006. Jindal took office in 2008.

Incidentally, New Orleans became a sanctuary city in 2013. Jindal did not oppose it, although, now, since he is running for president, he campaigns against them — says the sanctuary cities are partners in crime. What does that make him?

It’s difficult to come up with a HOLY way to treat the immigrants in this nation who have come over here illegally. We go along with Jindal’s plan thus far; it seems fair.

But bottom line, Jindal loves Christ and it shows, through his efforts to help the unborn [this is a HUGE mark of a good man], and his efforts to help Christian businesses. He is pro-life, pro-family. I hope Trump converts too, but sometimes with health and wealth going for you, there’s really no reason to seek God.

Thanks for making my point. Approved in the 1980s.
What happened to THE MONEY approved by voters and legislature in the 80s?
Work didn’t actually START until 2006. after Katrina, after the worlds eyes were focused on Louisiana’s incompetence and corruption. As a major evacuation route, the bridge couldn’t be ignored any longer, and I’m pretty sure Katrina money helped fund it.
As for rebuilt vs refurbished, I drove across it, and it looks rebuilt to me. It wasn’t “torn down” prior to the rebuilding, so my wording may have been sketchy. The new lanes were built around the old structure somehow, so the old structure was still available. THEN much of the old structure was removed as necessary.
My overall point is that under Jindal, the work got done.

Same goes for the pumps and infamous pump houses in New Orleans.
Parish President Aaron Broussard ordered the pump operators to evacuate for their own safety, due to the fact that the pump houses had not been built. But the money had been allocated some years before.
Where did the money go?
As a result, the pump weren’t turned on, the city remained underwater, and the existing pumps were also damaged or destroyed.

All were shiny and new when I was there.

As for New Orleans being declared a sanctuary city—the
Mayor is Democrat Mitch Landrieu. Mary’s brother.
‘Nuff said.
I don’t think its fair to accuse Jindal of insincerity on that issue. I think he is, in principle, really opposed to Sanctuary Cities. But in reality, that opposition is very hard to sell to heavily Democratic New Orleans, because so much of the immediate post- Katrina cleanup was, in fact, performed by illegals who came in.
Looter Guy didn’t want the job.
