This week, my college was a flurry of activity as everyone prepared themselves for Pope Francis arrival. At Georgetown, Francis is nearly universally beloved. Hes the first Pope from the Americas, the first Jesuit, and a priest who makes all the right noises about the entire portfolio of progressive causes.

This pope is a useful idiot.
Sad but true Jim and I am a Catholic.
I couldn’t believe that!
I am wondering if the pope is doing extreme taqiya.
Frankly the Pope is a puzzlement to me.
I’m very concerned about Pope Francis. Probably as much as non-Catholics were concerned about Pope Benedict (who followed dogma and doctrine and ticked off the liberals).
I got tickets for his visit to Philly and was going with my oldest, but kid #3 wanted to go too so I gave her my ticket for transit, etc. I think they’ll spiritually enjoy it all, far more than I would.
I’m flip flopping between “times have changed” and the “media lies” with “times have changed and we need to dig deeper for our spiritual guidance.” I’m hoping he’s not as politically marxist as he seems.
Reagan to Obama.
Thatcher to the latest UK freak.
John Paul II to Francis.
The human race seems bent on it’s own destruction.
That’s a shocker.
He’s making the Borgias look good.
It is if you are hated for it. The more you live like Him and become like Him, being a light and spreading the Gospel, bringing hope to the lost, the more you are a target of Satan. Can’t win the battles without armor, so I would have to agree with the Pope. If that is what he meant.
Must be dangerous if people are dying for not renouncing the Name which will bring every knee to the ground.
So, you are OK with selling weapons to ISIS?
A break from the idiocy of FR would go a long way toward healing. If you spend the saved time reading great theologians and previous popes (e.g. Leo XIII) you will find that they sound nothing like the libertarian/Randian anti-Pope "conservatives" here on FR.
Just wondering why you choose to affiliate yourself on a site that you seem to hold in such disdain.
So you agree with the pope that having a personal relationship with Yeshua is wrong?
Dangerous does not mean wrong. Ask any SEAL.
What has that got to do with the pope saying you can’t go to Yeshua on a personal basis? The pope is saying you have to go through the RCC to be able to relate to Yeshua on a personal basis. Yeshua came to us and not through Mary or anyone else. We have a direct personal access to G-d through Him. And what is the deal with your SEAL response?
I had a one-liner to respond to and it said, “Yes, he is a dangerous pope who believes having a personal relationship with JESUS is dangerous.”

I, being a Christian and currently studying spiritual warfare and what is coming, physical warfare against the faithful, took that statement at face value.
If in fact Christians are living testimonies to the One True God they will in fact be targeted spiritually, and today, physically. It is dangerous.
The SEALs know their job is dangerous and it is not wrong. In fact there will be only two choices for the faithful before the coming of the Messiah according to Revelation, fight and die or become a slave. Like the time of the Babylonian invasion, those who ran to Egypt died, many died in the home land, and the remnant went to Babylon as slaves. Those who ran to Egypt represent those who worship the beast, imho.
As for the context of being a Christian outside the church, ANY church, is what Paul said, too, in Hebrews 10
v23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
ALL THE MORE AS YOU SEE THE DAY DRAWING NEAR
Was the Pope’s message translated? Does he speak and write in English? Yes, translated. Do we know what the words mean to those who speak his local dialect? If not, I will go with the Bible and agree with him. The gathering together of believers, especially these days, is important. Being alone today is dangerous.
