However, think how it might look in a century or two. A time when most of the labor is done by robots, drones, machines of every kind. They will be operated by a small portion of the population, possibly owned by large corporations or the government. How will the general population live? Will their basic needs be met by the abundance of the technology. I seems that out of necessity we will need a socialist type of government.
Missing first paragraph:
“A pope that mentions Dorothy Day is a pope that rocks,” tweeted Neera Tanden of the left-leaning Center for American Progress. Tanden might have wished to reel back that praise if she had known that Day, though a prominent pacifist and socialist, was also a fervent opponent of abortion, birth control, Social Security and the sexual revolution.”
Jesus commands us to help the poor, but he did not advocate the creation of a welfare state.
Very bad things happen when the government makes all the decisions on how the money you earn is spent. Very bad things.
Excellent article. It would be nice if the Pope could read it.
The poor here in the U.S.A., who have enjoyed a standard of living that would make them wealthy, when compared to how the poor live in the rest of the world- They, above all others, must be to be informed of what they have to "look forward to" if our country goes full Socialist.
They'll need to
stock up on toilet paper
for starters.
But then again
income equality works out quite well
for some Socialists.
The poor in this country must know just how much of a lie Socialism is, and what it ultimately leads to, so they don't fall for those promising "free stuff".
I cannot understand how anybody, including the current Pope, could in good conscience, advocate for the utter failure that is Socialism.
It makes no sense at all.
