Several years ago, there was the usual pro-illegal story in the San Antonio newspaper about a 96 year old woman who had recently been granted citizenship and was going to vote for the first time. She had been in America over 50 years and spoke no English, which is a requirement for citizenship, by the way.

That’s how stubborn Mexicans are about clinging to the language of the Spanish, who conquered their forefathers. Strange.

I remember reading articles about naturalization ceremonies being given in other languages so apparently speaking English is no longer a requirement.
