The 9 volt connector is for a battery backup, which is used to preserve the time and alarm settings in case of a power failure, not to keep it functioning normally. Without it being plugged in, it doesn’t display time and the alarm doesn’t work if it has a battery attached.
He actually had to resort to plugging the thing into the wall and setting the alarm to go off during English class before he finally got the reaction he wanted from the teacher. But nope - his behavior totally doesn’t look suspicious. Not at all.
I’ve wondered about how he got it to ‘beep’ to get attention. So I have this vision of a kid (likely not in his assigned seat) crouching near a wall outlet, with this contraption open...display lit up, etc....and not giving complete answers as to what it was.
I would love to hear from other students in the room, about what happened.
