The media and rival politicians have certainly not given Trump a pass on everything. He has had to fight every inch of the way, thus far; and the opinions being expressed in this Conservative thread, suggest that he will have to continue to do so.

For comparison, the political figure--personality wise--who comes closest to Donald Trump, in my mind, was Teddy Roosevelt. My impression is that Teddy had a much friendlier press to deal with; but that was before my time. I am sure that some of the press were not friendly; but again that was before my time.

Now, please, do not attribute everything Teddy did to being as Conservative as I am. He was not; but he, like Trump, was an American patriot.

True that. My comment was directed at his fans and those who are telling the pollsters that they're voting for Trump.

I am certainly not one (I hope) who will overtly exaggerate a FReeper comment. I loved the old (b4 common core) test questions ... Compare and Contrast ... A versus B. People can have similar characteristics as well as complete contrasts. I do believe that your comparison of Trump and Teddy with regard to personality, patriotism and a love of America to be apt!
