The day my heart broke and I cried like a baby! Bill Mazeroski is still a swear work in my house.

That said, later in my life, I was given a baseball by Don Larsen and it was signed by him and Yogi for the Perfect Game in the 1956 World Series. A cherished treasure.

I always loved the scene in the movie "The Bronx Tale" where the kid was crying about the 60 world series and said Mazeroski made Mikey cry. The greatest defensive second baseman the game has ever known. It took way too long to get him in the HOF. He's still kicking and probably one of the most humble men you will ever meet.

Bill Mazeroski is also part of another famous play/scene. He was the player who hit into the triple play in the movie the odd couple! The story goes that the director wanted it to be Roberto Clemente because he was the most famous Pirate at the time, but Clemente would not be a part of it. They asked Maz being the second most famous Pirate and he agreed to do it.

One of my fondest memories is of being in NY in 1996. I was staying at the Downtown Athletic Club and after a night of partying we all headed back to the hotel. In the lobby was a bunch of “senior citizens” and it turned out they were members of the 1956 Yankees and Dodgers. They’d just had an anniversary dinner there. I got a lot of autographs; still have them. I love my Yankees. RIP Yogi!
