One of my huge backfires from the Libyan “uprising” was that the resulting chaos put literally thousands of MANPAD class missiles in play. I don’t know what those people were doing in Benghazi, but I will tell you what they should have been doing. They should have been buying those weapons to take them out of play.

Well, I respect that you know what you are talking about. But it begs this question. How did that happen? Who had MANPADS? How did they get them in that environment? We did not supply anyone with MANPADS — right? What faction did we supply that fell into “Chaos”? I’m sure you know?

The destination of the MANPADS has been, I think, the most important unanswered questions of the Libyan fiasco. That they haven’t surfaced yet leads me to believe there was a successful recovery or someone is playing a long game.

How long does it take to re-certify the systems and train several cells of goat humpers to blend into a foreign culture and effectively field them? Add in across border transport and enough time to recon and establish effective firing points around, say, O’Hare, DFW, or Atlanta. Maybe Heathrow, Roissy, and Frankfurt, all in a coordinated op.

I know I won't be flying between Turkey Day and the Superbowl.
