The destination of the MANPADS has been, I think, the most important unanswered questions of the Libyan fiasco. That they haven’t surfaced yet leads me to believe there was a successful recovery or someone is playing a long game.

How long does it take to re-certify the systems and train several cells of goat humpers to blend into a foreign culture and effectively field them? Add in across border transport and enough time to recon and establish effective firing points around, say, O’Hare, DFW, or Atlanta. Maybe Heathrow, Roissy, and Frankfurt, all in a coordinated op.

I know I won't be flying between Turkey Day and the Superbowl.

Seems there was a story during the Arab Spring where weapons were being shipped overland from Libya in an Iranian convoy and the Israelis caught the convoy in the open, in an East African nation....
