My Camry did not pass smog..They adjusted it to pass smog...It passed, it ran like shit...I re-adjusted it. End of story until next test.

Are you talking about downloading different software calibrations? There’s not anything to “adjust” otherwise these days.

I coughed up $1200 getting my 1974 Porsche 914 to meet CA smog with good performance. I then took the car home to Idaho and parked it in the garage for 14 years. I had no time to drive it or maintain it. Finally, a friend who is a great mechanic made me an offer. I cleared the car from my garage. A couple weeks went by as he tweaked the car and made small repairs. The next time we met, has asked if I was aware that the black rubber front bumper has a tendency to chip off little pieces at 110 MPH. Actually, no. I never ran it faster than 80 MPH. He's a happy camper and I have room to park 4 more motorcycles and the motorcycle trailer in that stall of my garage.

My car was a 1.8L fuel injected flat 4. The suspension was stiffened for slalom competition. It would turn on a dime. I purchased it from a slalom competition. He took the 2.0L engine normally aspirated engine from my car and put it into a much stiffer "shell" for competition. The 1.8L was a sort of downgrade. By the time I sold it, I had replaced the exhaust, clutch, fuel injection computer, fuel pump, all 4 rotors/calipers, added a 911 brake cylinder and stainless steel brake lines. I miss driving the car, but it isn't practical for life in Idaho.
