Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis Is Meddling and Altering Marriage Licenses, ACLU Says
NBC News ^ | 09/22/2015 | TIM STELLOH

Kim Davis went back to work as a Kentucky county clerk last week after a stint in jail and a pledge that she wouldn't interfere with deputies who were issuing wedding licenses to same-sex couples.

But in a court motion filed Monday, the American Civil Liberties Union said that she was doing just that.

After returning to her job on Sept. 14 as the Rowan County clerk, the filing said, Davis "immediately" began meddling with licenses that the office's deputy clerk, Brian Mason, was issuing.

The ACLU, which is representing several couples who are suing Rowan County, called this "significant" interference that has "violated" a federal court order and "resulted in material alterations to those licenses that render their validity questionable at best."

The group is requesting that an older, unmodified version of the county's marriage license be used.

According to the article thread at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3339818/posts “references to Rowan County and her clerk’s office” have been removed.

(Sep 18, 2015) However, any unauthorized license that they issue will not have my name, my title or my authority on it. Instead, the license will state that they are issued pursuant to a federal court order.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/kentucky-clerk-kim-davis-interfered-with-judges-order-attorney-says/

“Issued pursuant to a federal court order” is not the name of the county clerk any more than “Rowan County” is.

Of course.

They could always go to another county. (They may have come from another county).

But obtaining a license is not their goal.

Is that one of the “modified” licenses?

No. It’s a valid license.

> According to a strict reading of the statute, if it said “Kim Davis”, that’s a violation too, unless the marriage licenses of every other county in the state say the same thing.

That’s ridiculous.

Exhibit A in this PDF is a properly filled marriage license.

So what did she modify that kept a clerk from being able to enter the date, time, and place, and signing it?

I did. It’s still not apparent exactly what she changed, and I’m tired of playing this game with you.

Yes you have been playing games. I've provided ample information in this thread and have gone out of my way to help you. I will now help you again.

Per KRS 402.100(1)(c) the form shall provide for the entering of "The date and place the license is issued, and the signature of the county clerk or deputy clerk issuing the license."

Exhibited below is a properly filled marriage license. If you can not view the image then please see Exhibit A in this pdf: https://www.liberty.edu/media/9980/attachments/2015/080515_Complaint_-_Davis_Third_Party_Complaint_against_Gov_Beshear_FINAL.pdf

The date issued is "6/16/2015", the place issued is "in the office of KIM DAVIS, ROWAN COUNTY County Clerk, MOREHEAD, Kentucky", and the signature of the county clerk or deputy clerk issuing the license is "BRIAN MASON, DEPUTY CLERK"

As I've specifically posted “references to Rowan County and her clerk’s office” have been removed. Since you are unable to determine what is left on the form I will again go out of my way to help you. Removing “references to Rowan County and her clerk’s office” leaves the date and the signature of the county clerk of deputy clerk issuing the license.

Is there anywhere I can see an image of one of the modified documents?

How many licenses? I’m sure there aren’t too many same-sex couples wanting to get married in KY (yes, pun intended) of all places.
