The man in charge of former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum's presidential campaign says Donald Trump's status as the Republican front-runner is built on the theft his opponents' strengths. John Brabender, who acted as Santorum's senior strategist during his 2012 White House bid and currently manages the Pennsylvania senator's presidential campaign, joined a host of top campaign staffers Monday at an event co-hosted by National Review Online and Google. Trump ranks first in the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings and Santorum is fifteenth. After addressing Santorum's bottom-tier status, Brabender was asked to discuss Trump's monumental impact on the GOP field.
"Trump has stolen something from almost every candidate who has hurt him and helped himself," he told moderator and National Review editor Rich Lowry. The veteran campaign staffer offered up an example, describing Trump's blunt messaging and unapologetic demeanor as a successful variation of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's "tell it like it is" slogan. Similarly, some immigration experts previously accused Trump of stealing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's spotlight as a leading hardliner on immigration, leaving Walker scrambling to regain his position as a GOP favorite before deciding to withdraw from the race Monday. Santorum has yet to make it onto the stage for a primetime Republican debate this election cycle. He has polled at less than 1 percent for most of the summer, according to polling data from RealClearPolitics.

The serial candidates really don’t like Trump stealing their thunder!
What a bunch of Jan Bradys in the GOPe.
“It’s always Donald....Donald....Donald!”
Trump didn’t steal illegal immigration as an issue from Walker, come on.
On that same note Michael Jordan should never have been allowed to play for the Bulls. He stole too many other players skills. I mean really who wants to watch a basketball player, who can dribble AND shoot AND pass. That’s Terrible!
These guys fully expected 6 months of prancing around to dinners and meetings with the financial backers. Saying some soft conservative things for show, while generally not making any waves.
Trump made short work of that, and exposed lots of these guys as being nothing but sure losers.
>>Their manhood???
Nah. Most of the GOPe presented that to Obama on their knees.
I was gonna say masks.
The mind boggles. Trump stole bluntness from Christie? Stole immigration from Walker? This is just about as panic-stricken as I have ever seen a group to be. The GOP is hopeless.
That’s it? That’s all he said? Once again a story is contrived from nothing. There is no theft. Stolen in that context is not about theft. Good grief. Maybe he meant that. From that quote you certainly cannot tell.
The media are horrible.
Yup call the Wahhambulance for these weaklings
I’m not seeing that much in what Santorum said.
There are only 100 polling points to be shared by all. A frontrunner always takes away points for the other candidates. For that matter, all points belonging to any candidate by definition take away points from the other candidates. The frontrunner takes away the most. Santorum used the word “stole” rather than “take away” but it is the same thing. There is no theft. This is a manufactured scandal.
Trump’s blunt messaging and unapologetic demeanor as a successful variation of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s “tell it like it is” slogan.
Before Trump, we non-Democrats/non-RINOs were unhappy about it but we were being asked to settle for far less.
Geesh. Rick is reminding me of the slimy character in Lord of the Rings, Golum, “My precious. Trump is taking MY ring. aaaargh!”
Votes?
Lets face it....we had a parade of nerds, some good and some not so good, and then a man showed up.
“Bunch of sore losers. Guess theyd all be okay if it was Bush in the lead, right?”
Yeah! It’s like in racing where you send out a “rabbit car” to wear out the competitors while the car you have in the race to win just sits back and watches the competitors die trying to keep pace with the rabbit. Unfortunately for the GOPe, their “rabbits” are all dogs and they can’t get ahead of the eventual winner, even for a few days.
