hat’s why I think the others should drop out, just as he says, so that we can offer Trump as a “positive CONSERVATIVE alternative” to the current front-runner

Trump is not a conservative - he is a populist that holds a number of conservative positions, along with a number of liberal positions (class warfare, tax the rich, single-payer health care, etc.). I know a lot of people are willing to overlook his liberal positions, or will even try to argue that they really are conservative positions, because they agree with him on immigration, etc. And if you support him in spite of those liberal positions, fine, but be honest about it. But don't try to make him into a principled conservative, implying that he is conservative across the board. It just isn't true.

Get a life, I was having some fun with Walker being a dick in his stupid speech. For 80% of the people on this site, including me, Trump is conservative enough because he has immigration right.

But if you must, I agree, Trump overall is a middle-of-the-road populist - but he has obviously picked some issues that resonate with Republicans.

“But don’t try to make him into a principled conservative”

Except that there are NO principled conservatives in the rest of the lot either. Cruz is by far the closest thing, but he’s still in favor of essentially unlimited H1B visas.

YOU be honest about it!

No one here is claiming Trump is a "movement conservative."

Conversely, YOU are misrepresenting his "liberal" positions. His Single-Payer plan is ONLY for the poverty class uninsured, his tax-the-rich plan is still a cut, and where you find "class warfare" is anybody's guess.

Reagan was a liberal democrat once. He changed!

Trump was, is and always has been a shrewd businessman with a soft spot for the middle class. Trump has done absolutely nothing to hurt the middle class. Unlike the professional politicians who are under control of their rich donors and thus keep voting for the cheap labor express which hurts middle class.

Read Trump’s book written in 2011. “Time to get tough”.
You might actually learn something that Trump has been consistent on so many issues.

Trump is not a conservative
maybe not, but he is putting out very conservative position papers. He may not follow up on any f them but he is putting out, so far, very conservative policy papers.
