MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Warning the GOP's presidential race has become too nasty, Scott Walker suspended his 2016 campaign on Monday and called on some of his Republican rivals to do the same, citing an urgent need to "clear the field" to help defeat GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
"Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive conservative message can rise to the top of the field. With that in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately," Walker said in a Madison press conference.

Its sad to see this happen, I am glad for what Walker has done to deal with government employee labor unions in Wisconsin to bring the state’s fiscal house in order.
I gave Walker money when the Dems went after him with a recall election.
But the run for president has shown me flaws in the man, he calls RINO’s like Paul Ryan ‘reformers’ when discussing matters like Obamacare. I can’t buy that.
95 percent of Republicans either fake conservatism or repudiate it. It looks like Walker has put himself in the 95 percent. Ted Cruz is in the 5 percent of the good guys and I support him.
But instead of trashing Trump like Walker did, its time for Ted Cruz to get a better message than Trump.

I applaud Walker for defending his record as governor. He was a great governor.
Walker didn’t lose support because of what Trump said. He lost support because he simply repeated the MSM attacks on Trump. When Walker had focused on the union bosses and the Democrats he did well. He was leading the field.

Walker had dropped down to zero percent in the polls. He doesn’t have any votes to bring to the table for any other candidate. Same for the other candidates from the kiddy table. No votes to speak of to pass on to other RINO candidates. Won’t help any of the other candidates when the the kiddy table all drop out, votes-wise. Will allow former staff members to go elsewhere though, and same with money donors. Frees them up to spend elsewhere.
I predict Rubio will make a similar exit - Karl Rove dirty-style.
At this point, active opposition to Trump - as Walker phrased it - aligns him entirely with the RINO Establishment and gives them aid and comfort. That IS our #1 problem within the GOP and they must be utterly obliterated.
I would still interpret it as a disguised slap at Trump with the content of the quote Jeb Bush like.
Scott is just upset the GOP consultant class relieved him of his campaign funds then tossed him aside.

Okay, at least you are willing to admit that you will overlook his liberal positions because he is saying the right things on immigration. I may not agree with that position, but I can respect it a lot more than someone trying to claim that positions we have long associated with Democrats are now somehow conservative because Trump holds them...

How much did he spend? I realize here in Indiana we don’t get any adverts because the race is over by our primary time (May) but other than traveling are these folks spending money on running ads now?

I watched Greta and Trump had nothing but regards for the exiting Walker.
All attacks by candidates can also be found being said by the left! Good grief that is just how attacks go. I personally expected Walker to say more than “ that’s not true”. It is Walker’s fault that he didn’t counter Trump’s statement with facts- not Trump’s.
