Also Article VI.
Carson said he has “no reason to doubt” that President Obama was born in the United States and is a Christian.
Many times in the past, Trump has questioned Obama’s birthplace and American citizenship.
On “Meet the Press,” Trump was asked if he was comfortable with a Muslim being president. Trump responded, “It’s something that at some point could happen.” The real estate mogul continued, “Would I be comfortable? I don’t know if we have to address it right now.”
Founders said in the Constitution “No religious test” shall be applied to holding office. You’re gonna have a problem with that and need an amendment.
Good for Carson. I salute him.
No, unfortunately he is not correct. Constitution explicitly states that “no religious test” shall be applied to prevent someone from holding office.
One can already see what having a Muslim President is doing to this country.
Thank you Ben Carson
But shouldn’t the candidates all unite against the media for posing this as if it is a campaign issue
There are no muslims running for president
We have real issues to debate, d’o not need to waste time on hypotheticals
I believe muslims should be deported from the Earth ...
In fairness he didn't say that Muslims should not be allowed to be president, he said he couldn't support one for president. A lot of people wouldn't support a Muslim for president...or a Mormon...or a Jew or Catholic or atheist. Personally I couldn't support a Christian for president if that Christian supported raising taxes and was squishy on the Second Amendment.
Should a racist former community organizer be president?
Ben, those are strong words, and you are correct. Now get ready...INCOMING!
Carson didn't day it should be a law? When voting, the voter will be the judge of that. I certainly wouldn't knowingly vote for a Muslim, one of the reasons, Romney is not president because is because he is a Mormon. Like someone else said unfortunately we appear to have already made that mistake.
How’ja like a whole Congressfull of Keith Ellisons (howcum he never Arabized his name)?
And yes, muzzies do think they’re el supremo over the rest of humanity.
The constitution does not prohibit voters from discriminating on the basis of religion. It simply prohibits the GOVERNMENT from requiring any religious test for government offices.
I would not vote for ANY candidate whose religion caused them to have a divided loyalty.
And that is as American as apple pie.
And NO. A Muslim should not be elected president. Our current president is a great example of what happens when a president's loyalty is to Islam rather than the Constitution. We could not have picked a more un-American president.
And to say that there is something "un-First Amendment" about saying something like that simply means you don't value the First Amendment. The First Amendment protects my free speech rights as well as my right, as a Christian, to discriminate against Muslim or Mormons or Catholics when deciding who would be qualified to lead the country.
Personally I don't believe anyone but a Bible Believing Christian should be elected to the office. Is that Un-First Amendment in your book?
Since YOU get to elect the President, do you personally believe that an Islamic Koran Believing Muslim should be elected as President?
Would you not discriminate personally against someone who was a true believing Muslim when you entered the voting booth?
Do we need an Amendment to stop it, or simply an informed electorate?
The ideology of Mohammedansim is anti-thetical to the U.S. Constitution.
I agree with the good doc.
:-)
I elect a president who will follow the Constitution, and I follow the Constitution. You don’t?
Yeah, he should have said what all other politicians say - “islam is a religion of peace”, which is a total lie.
