The Talk Shows
Sept 20th, 2015
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina; Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the archbishop of Washington; Rev. Thomas Rosica, a Vatican spokesman.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Republican presidential candidates John Kasich and Ben Carson; JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton; Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Republican presidential candidates Marco Rubio and Donald Trump; New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Kasich and Trump; Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie.
That whole article was just spot on.
Fox has two reporters of Atkisson's caliber: Katherine Herridge and Jennifer Griffen.
Please stop attacking Karl Rove!
The next thing you’ll tell me is he spent $400 Million on GOP races and lost every single race.
I think Trump is going to score big today if he plays off any muslim/obama question with some serious passive aggressiveness.
He can really up his image here by alluding to the obvious in obtuse but understandable ways.
I think those that engaged Trump on the muslim issue made a mistake and a big wide opening for Trump to just drive a truck through.
His stance on immigration is defined pretty well so no need to revisit that topic in depth. Just stick with the ‘concept plan’ and goals, and push on to your latest release of position papers.
Any other candidate releasing position papers?
I think any sort of re-visiting the Fiorina comment won’t be useful, there is no down side for her, but plenty for Trump.
I have good news and bad news. The bad news is yes he did lose every one of those races. The good news is he got to keep 15%.
Morning AB, All.
As always, thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably and, every once in a while, reading my freepmails with a calmness much needed. :)
Had to sing at 8:30 mass this morning, Now watching Meet the Press.....did have a “debate party” featuring my Pastor, Father Flowers.....cool. Real cool. We had a great time, eating munchies, petting dogs, and talking about the Catholic church....whew.
I gave Carly Fiorina the prize for her sincere outburst over those tiny babies so brutally murdered and cut apart by Planned Parenthood.
I gave Ted Cruz second place, mostly because I like him.
Father Tom is going with a Rubio/Fiorina ticket and does not like Donald Trump.
Carry on as I catch up.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY!
He is already making points. He said there are some very dangerous Muslims that need to be dealt with. You are right and he is a marketing genius. He can get a major bump out of this since most know it is a manufactured scandal.
so good it had to be repeated!
Good question, but when did he do it and did he do it legally? Great minds want answers.
Taken in context Steyn was not calling what Trump did a gaffe.
I hope you recognized my post was decidedly on the sarcastic side of the pendulum.
Of course he lost all those races which is why I mentioned it.
Perhaps I should have added “/s”...
I like Carly and is my top 4, but if she was nominated she would be Romneyed by the Dems. She would be the cold hearted millionaire who let all her workers go while she lived the high life. It would be ugly and very doubtful she could overcome it.
Indeed next week is Pope week. As a certified news Junkee, not to mention a Catholic.....I am excited.
But not necessarily in a good way. For this Pope worries the hell out of me. Father Tom says he is very naïve, a fellow born in Argentina, a country with nothing much in common with most of the world except maybe Russia.
This morning Fox’s Father Jonathan Morris-think that’s his name-was saying how the Pope is from a country with crony capitalism and when he speaks of capitalism he speaks not of the business world we in America know.
I asked the only priest nearest me-though I’d love to ask Father John-did anybody see this guy without a shirt last week? Saved a guy’s life attacked by two pit bulls, Fox got some of it on tape, especially that part with Father Jonathan with no shirt. He shouldn’t be a damn priest, he should join the Chippendale dancers....I’m just saying....so Father Tom says the church kind of owes South America what with all the Catholics there and never having ha a Pope.
Sheesh....politics is everywhere.
Also I am very concerned about the safety of the Pope. First, the Pope is a bit naïve and he might go wandering into the crowds when he shouldn’t. Cause if I’m a Jihadist man, blowing up the Pope, his entourage, and many American civilians would maybe get me over a hundred virgins in heaven.
Father Tom came to the Sussex county GOP this past Monday. He wore a Tshirt with a bunch of nuns on it. At the bottom it said “Wait till these guys see the virgins awaiting them.”
I could have slapped him.....but it got a lot of laughs.
Anyway....just got a bad feeling about this Pope visit.
I would like, of course, to be wrong. Father Tom says he gives the Pope’s visit a 50/50 chance of avoiding some kind of violence....
Maybe it’s a Catholic thing.....
Are you willing to pay that price? And where are you going to get the money?
TRUMP: Well, first of all they're wrong...These are people coming and many of them -- you look at what's happening with the crime. Many of them are really causing tremendous problems. And they would be out really fast, immediately. First day we start that movement.
We need a wall. We have to get a wall. We need great security. And, by the way, legally, if you're legal you can come in. And we'll cherish you for coming in.
STEPINAWFULPIS: But let me press you on the costs right there, Mr. Trump. They're saying $400 billion to $600 billion. It would require big government apparatus to take everybody down. If you don't think those numbers are right, how much is it going to cost and where are you going to get the money?
TRUMP: Well, it's costing us $130 billion a year and that's peanuts compared to what the real cost is, George, for the way we have it now. You have so many illegals. We don't even know how many illegals. I hear 11 million. I hear 30 million.
We have lost control of our country. We've lost control of our borders. The government has no idea how many illegals there. I've been hearing 11 million for five years. Then the other day I heard 30.
STEPINAWFULPIS: So if there's no idea, how are you going to round them all up? Where are you going to get the money, where are you going to get the forces? Exactly how are you going to do it? What are the specifics here?
TRUMP: George, I'm telling you, it's called management. You can do this and we can expedite the good ones to come back in. And everybody wants that. But they have to come in legally.
We have a country, we have to have -- we're a country of laws. We're a country of borders. How can you have a country without a border?
How can you have a country without laws?
We have to do it. And by the way, what you said in your piece initially is the gang members. You look at the gang members in Baltimore, Chicago, in Ferguson, these people, a lot of them, are illegals. These are rough dudes. And we're going to get them to hell out fast.
STEPINAWFULPIS: I understand that you think it's a huge problem, but I still don't hear specifics on how you're going to do this.
TRUMP: My specifics are very simple -- I'm going to get great people that know what they're doing, not a bunch of political hacks that have no idea what they're doing, appointed by President Obama,...that man doesn't have a clue.
People are walking across the border right now, right in front of these great people that we have. We have wonderful Border Patrol people. They can do their job. but they're not allowed to do the job.
People are walking right into our country totally un -- nobody even knows where they come from. They walk right past guards that are told not to do anything.
STEPINAWFULPIS: Do you expect neighbors to start turning in neighbors?
********************************************************************************
STEPINAWFULPIS: I still haven't heard the specifics on how you're going to do that, but I'm going to move on...
TRUMP: Well, you'll hear it, George. Don't worry about it.
