Donald Trump on Saturday responded to a question from CNN about whether Muslims pose a danger to the country, saying: "I love the Muslims. I think they're great people."
The Republican presidential front-runner made the comment after addressing high school students here at their homecoming Saturday night.
During a question-and-answer session with students, Trump was unable to avoid being asked about the latest political controversy dogging his campaign: his decision not to correct a supporter this week who called President Barack Obama a Muslim.
One student told Trump that she considered Muslim-Americans to be an important segment of the country. They asked whether the billionaire businessman would consider putting a Muslim in his Cabinet or on his ticket.
"Oh, absolutely," Trump responded. "No problem with that."

Wait, I thought one of the main reasons Trump fans like him is because he’s non-pc and “tells it like it is.” So, now the argument is “well, he’s just saying this to get elected.” So he IS being politically correct now…which makes him just another politician, no?

Trump, is no idiot, he knows the answers to these “gotcha” questions.
If you look at it in context (which people seldom do) it’s obvious that it’s a generalized sentiment of good will.
It so happens to be TRUE that much of Islamdom does not conduct itself anywhere near as rabidly as the religion’s core documents call for. To wish them good will on earth would be, at a minimum, to wish that they stay calm. Even better that they would begin to embrace Jesus Christ, of course. And this is a job that Trump probably can’t do anything directly about because he is not an evangelist.
He has to have a second or even third sense about it... when the news media comes to him, it is like a cobra coming to a mongoose.
Sometimes the evasive maneuver involves making nice. Sometimes it involves emphasizing the practical. In any event he can’t let the encounter pin him down in things he never said.

I think he DOES understand it. But he cannot admit it on the world stage. Unfortunately if he wants to get anywhere close to being elected he cannot alienate a large segment of society. Nobody running for high office can come out and say he’s against any certain religion. You don’t realize this?
