To a certain extent I agree Norm. So the question is, do we never forget things people have done in the past?

If that is true, why do we continue to voice the desire to have politicians buy into our beliefs?

To even voice that desire, and then not accept people who do, would reveal us to be some very strange people. We would be wasting our time voicing a desire that we would never accept.

Trumps kid was evidently a hunter. Trump has come around. He has a lifetime membership in the NRA. (granted, anyone can get that easily and it doesn’t necessarily mean much, but a Leftist isn’t going to brag about that)

If you want something else to shake your confidence, the other day he granted an interview in which he stated a policy. The interviewer asked if he was afraid of releasing a policy and being held to it. He stated something to the effect, “Look, these are my thoughts on this subject. Life being what it is, we may have to make mid course corrections. Hardly anything remains constant.” (paraphrased)

I guess you could look at that and say gotcha, but a guy that is lying to you isn’t going to make a statement like that. He would just say, “Hey that’s my belief and you’ll have to take it or leave it.”

I don’t think he’s lying. These are his beliefs.

He has had to sit down (for the first time) and put his beliefs to paper, making a declaration in light of all that he now knows.

What Trump will pan out to be, none of us knows.

What we do know, is that we can’t get a Conservative other than him nominated anyway. It’s really Trump or the same old RINO on election day.

I’m taking my chances with Trump. At least I can vote for the guy based on what he’s hawking.

Sure we can forgive. If he proves he’s honest about it. We forgave Reagan for his mistaken amnesty.

But my point is that past actions aren’t just derezzed. They happened and have to be considered. Pols say anything to get elected one week and then the next, say something opposite to get elected if they calculate it will benefit them. If Trump sticks to his position paper, then he should be supported for that position because it shows he changed his ways on the subject.
