It's nice of the NYT to be so concerned on behalf of the Evangelicals.

There’s no religious test for office, and there shouldn’t be.

Translation: Mr. Trump fails the NYT test for religious purity.

We should not demand to see the long-form certificate for Mr. Trump’s second birth.

Look:
The big issues right now, for any president are:
-- Illegal immigration
-- Jobs and economic growth
-- Tax reform
-- Repealing ObamaCare

Trump is equal or better than any candidate on all of these. He's got the package I'm looking for.

I care very much about abortion. Two points:
-- No president can wave a magic wand and change Roe v Wade. Supreme Court nominations matter, but no Republican has proven very adept at choosing genuine pro-Life judges. I cannot use abortion as a litmus test for any president.
-- Trump says he is pro-Life. I may harbor some doubts, but I have no firm basis on which to declare that he's simply lying to me.

Hatred for political establishments and the power echelons in DC are at a fevered pitch. Trump plays to that brilliantly. He is bloodless revolution.
