How Trump's bumptious body language dominates

Body language experts point out these five signature Trumpisms that put him in a class by himself among candidates:

He leans forward on the lectern.

Trump's opponents tend to stand up straight, which might please their mothers, but doesn't do much for the audience. Givens notes that Trump puts his hands on the lectern and leans forward. "It's like he's doing a pushup. It's a display of power," he says.

He gestures out to the audience.

It's a very big gesture, Givens says, reaching way out. "He extends his hands towards you. It's very personal," Givens says.

His palms are up.

When he does these big gestures, he usually has his palms up.

"He's saying 'I'm open, I am who I am and you can trust me,'" Morgan says, noting that Trump tends to have his palms up when facing the audience or when journalists ask him questions, but not when he faces his opponents.

He turns his torso toward his opponents.

His opponents might turn just their heads or shoulders, but Trump fully faces his opponents. "This shows he has no fear," says Eric Goulard, a body language expert in Lille, France. "I would compare him to an animal ready to attack another animal."

He purses his lips when opponents are talking.

This, along with big gestures with his right hand, is what reminds Givens of Benito Mussolini. "He's basically saying, 'I don't need to worry about the rest of you insects,'" Morgan says.

I’ve never bought into “body language” experts. To me it’s like phrenology.

Trump slumps because for all his wealth, success and expensive suits, he’s really just another schlep from Queens. That’s all there is to it.

Mussolini made the trains run on time.

That turns out to be a myth. Obviously, nothing in Italy has ever run on time.

I don’t see it as insult.....I think it’s accurate, and shows that DT is more of a master at this kind of stuff than his rivals. Not a Trumpinator like yourself, but I don’t consider any of this negative. I consider it effective communication, often over powering words that on paper appear contradictory or leftist.

Trump and Bush are both listed at 6’3” but standing next to each other in the debate, Bush looked much taller even when both stood up straight.

It's a return to the importance of character.

Trump knows who he is. He's not ashamed of himself. He has no reason to be ashamed of himself. He puts himself out there and is very open to people. You don't have to like him. He knows and accepted the fact that not everyone will like him. But he's comfortable in his own skin -- and it shows. People respond to that.

My wife consults on body language and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It’s pretty cool stuff.

Bush was standing on his tiptoes. Look at the photos. The lethargic one also has ego problems concerning his height.

Trump’s “in your face” style is both annoying and threatening. He also has this [smug] look about him [Bill O’Reilly?] like he’s the smartest guy in the room but, imo, he is not; the smartest guy in the room was in the 4-man debate, Bobby Jindal.

Trump’s face [during the debate] was almost as red as beet as well; not good for those interested in voting in a healthy president.

JINDAL: Absolutely. Look, the reality is, Hillary Clinton is gift-wrapping this election to us. They are running their weakest candidate. They have got a socialist that is gaining on Hillary Clinton. Folks, you can’t make that up. A socialist is doing well in the Democratic primary.

The best way for us to give this election back would be to nominate a Donald Trump. He’ll implode in the general election, or if, God forbid, if he were in the White House, we have no idea what he would do.

You can’t just attack him on policy. He doesn’t care about policy. It’s not enough to say he was for socialized medicine or higher taxes...

TAPPER: Thank you, Governor.

JINDAL: He’s not serious.

Here I go, as bad as any that I’m about to criticize.

Everybody gets a say these days. Even if they are wrong, unqualified, biased, lying, prejudiced...it just does not matter.

If there is such a thing as too much information flying around, we have it. The markets twitch at the slightest sound. There are no trends or direction but mass hysteria or euphoria. Like a flock of birds looking for direction or a roost.

An so we quiver our way into the fog with complete ambiguity.

I’m voting for Trump if I get the chance. The rest can just go on about their business. Yes, he does make some sophomoric comments that should not be said. They are not necessarily harmless but they are inconsequential in the whole scheme of things. The plant in the audience asking about muzzies is right and he has a right to say what he said. It is not Trump’s place to correct him.

Jindal is the guy who thought that the govt should not monitor volcanoes at a time when Alaska was going through a major eruption that threatened to shut down pacific north air travel. So I could care less what that clown has to say.

I think Trump saw the comments he made as a quick way to vault him to the top.

“Bush looked much taller “

Didn’t he admit he was on tippy-toe? It’s good to have handlers giving you tips that will embarrass you eventually. It’s like the doofus Gore handler who tried to turn him into an alpha male by changing his wardrobe.

So I could care less what that clown has to say.

Stick with your own clown, then... "The Donald" could lead our circus; I mean our nation!
