My grandparents were from Italy. Seldomly, if ever, heard them speak Italian. They spoke perfect English. (And, I'm a lot older than Rubio!)

That’s because it was a sense of pride to assimilate and become American. Most grandparents and great grandparents of that time strove to speak English. Many would flat our refuse to speak their native tongue because that was left behind along with all the bad memories. They loved America unlike this administration.
