Santorum’s endorsement of “Trayvon Martin” threw it all to Romney. Neither candidate could have won his home states.

Newt was about 10% in the polls at this time in 2011. He surged in November but was still behind Romney. Trump has been in the lead consistently.

The GOP establishment did not want Newt to win and did everything to stop him. They will have a harder time this time around with Trump.

No candidate, in my memory, since 1960, has led in almost all 50 states for 2+ months. Excepting incumbent presidents running for 2nd term, of course.
