Well, I don’t for sure but I do know that when we stopped folks from smoking in a particular control room and did a total clean up including wiping down the walls, there sure was a lot of gunk on the cleaning cloths. Kinda brown and semi-sticky. And yes, I still smoke. Never killed a hard drive of mine.
That has been my experience as well.
I have had two desktop computers and four laptops.
The desktops I used and upgraded for years, I would pass them on to a relative when I was finished with them.
The four laptops saw heavy usage when I was still driving trucks.
I used them for record keeping and some pretty awesome map software as well as entertainment.
I smoked heavily around each one of them. Never had my smoking cause any problems.
When I would have the desktops upgraded, the fella that did the work would just say “you’re a smoker aren’t you.” thats all.
The laptops got killed by various accidents.
Falling off the truck bunk many times finally killed one.
One lost a fight with a platter of Hunan beef.
The other two just had numerous small accidents that totalled them over a period of time.
The one I have now is a survivor of the truck wars.
I have to prop the screen up, but it works just fine.
The score is:
Two desktops passed on to relatives.
Four laptops killed in the line of duty in the truck wars.
One laptop wounded but still in service.
Zero computers damaged by my affinity for nicotine.
