Trump isn’t a conservative.
Jonah Goldberg made that point and was attacked by Freepers for it.
Conservatives who support Trump should know he’s not a movement man and will never be.
Lobbing insults around like grenades. That part I don't like.
But the question has to be asked, how could Trump be tricked into anything? I've read enough FReepers who are convinced that he's the smartest man in the world to make the thought of Trump being “tricked” into an impossibility.
You kjnow I’m getting real tired of all this constant, “ This one or that one isn’t a real conservative.” Look at he the last batch of, “real conservatives,” we elected. They have really proven to be, “real conservatives,” haven’t they.
How about we elect, A REAL AMERICAN, one that has American values. One that can and will stand up for this country and not make the claim that, “ I’m the conservative running.”
That claim means nothing as been proven by the last batch that made that claim and FAILED.
Rush's response to this was precisely accurate: what have all these "conservatives" that NRO insisted we support gotten us?
I've written as extensively about this as Goldberg has, and, I think, more accurately. We have moved away from ideologically driven elections. Obama was NOT an ideological vote. He was purely and overwhelmingly (for different reasons by different races) a racial vote.
Trump is not conservative by a litmus test of SUPPOSEDLY conservative positions. But those don't matter any more because except for the pundits, no "conservative" actually DOES anything.
So I have suggested (as has Rush and Mark Steyn, who are far more insightful on this than Goldberg or the NRO crowd) that if in fact Trump builds the wall, he will have achieved more "conservative" goals in one year than all the conservatives put together in the last 10. If he is able to open up (i.e., make "free" trade indeed free) trade with China and Japan, he would have achieved twice as many conservative "goals" as all the conservatives.
The demise of ideology was actually first seen in the 1828 election with Jackson (who, ironically ran on the new, TOTALLY ideological party, but which did not run its election on ideology). TR pretty much ran a post-ideological campaign in 1904. And I think we'll see our third one here.
So would you rather go for one of the pro-amnesty/open borders candidates?
“Trump isnt a conservative.

You’re probably right about Trump not being a conservative deep down. But I think we’re all at the point right now where certain issues like abortion and gay marriage are on the back burner. The immigration crisis is #1 on the minds of America, and Trump is perceived as the only one who can confront the issue in a meaningful way. And he’s going to have to bust some heads to get it done.
Ha! That’s rich...considering Johah/NRO are NOT conservative. RINO/¡Jeb! lovers, all the way. No thanks.
“Conservatives who support Trump should know hes not a movement man and will never be.”
Someone who is with you 80% of the time is better than someone who is against 100% of the time. More than that, we have to face the fact that someone who agrees you 50% of the time and will actually fight for you that 50% of the time is better than the feckless, duplicitous, treacherous double dealing corporate rino whores we have leading the party now. All of whom cave out 100% of the time even though they say they agree with you 100%. Trump is right on the one issue that is more important than all of the rest combined.
He’s the only chance we got to counter voter fraud.
Ah but look at the big picture: He changes his mind as often as he changes his shirt, insults everyone, trashes women, built an empire out of casinos and carnivals, never had to ask God for forgiveness for anything, and does not say what he means and does not mean what he says.
.He's perfect! ...Just ask him!
