If they hadn't been in the road in the first place, the opportunity for the psycho to run down the fireman wouldn't have presented itself in the first place...if they had chosen a SAFER venue to raise funds; odds are he would still be alive.

You are not speaking to the facts as we now know them. It appears this driver deliberately circled back, clearly knew the officer was there, clearly saw him, and deliberately ran him over. This was not an accident, this was vehicular murder.
