A man reportedly identified as an aide to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was shot in the head and critically injured after gunfire erupted in the pre-dawn hours on Monday before the West Indian Day parade in Brooklyn, police said.

The 43-year-old man was the "unintended target" of the shooting, which took place at 3:41 a.m. at 1680 Bedford Avenue, said a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department.

was the "unintended target" of the shooting

Everyone worries about a bullet that "has their name on it".

The ones with "to whom it may concern" are just as bad.

Add the fact that he was a hire by Cuomo during a hiring freeze, and you get “mob hit”.

i hear ya, and i'll cut him some slack if there is some proven legitimate reason for him to be there,(which i haven't heard of yet) but to me, unless there was legal trouble or legalities that required him to be there in some official capacity, i see no reason for some cuomothehomo aide to be there at 4:30 in the am... if i'm wrong, then endless apologies to you and him

No apologies required to me, I have no idea if he was there in an official capacity or just to enjoy the event the article mentioned, apparently it is a big thing there, I have no clue myself. I took my kids to the Rose Parade once thirty years ago and never felt the need to do it again, I hate crowds, even small ones.

Um, wait. This is Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The most dangerous part of Brooklyn. At 3:41am, yet.

That's an address you can't stand out on the street in the wee hours of the morning because you're more than likely to get shot/robbed/stabbed. And the West Indian Parade is a time of heightened violence, historically.

Unintended target, they say. Sure, now tell us what he was REALLY doing out there.
