Liberal Group Starts Petition to Rename Ronald Reagan National Airport
Fox News ^

Now that Mount McKinley is no more, liberals are turning their eyes toward Washington, D.C., and Ronald Reagan National Airport.

The influential liberal political action committee CREDO Action is behind the effort with a petition drive.

The petition says that because John Boehner and congressional Republicans complained when President Barack Obama restored Alaska's Mount McKinley name to Denali, they should stay consistent and change Ronald Reagan National Airport back to its original name honoring America’s first president, George Washington.

Republicans, led by Boehner, voted to rename Washington National Airport after Ronald Reagan in 1998.

"Given Speaker Boehner’s current outrage and disappointment at President Obama’s decision to rename Mount McKinley, it’s time to give him the opportunity to make up for his own past mistakes," the petition reads. "Sign the petition and tell John Boehner he needs to be consistent when it comes to naming America’s landmarks."

CREDO Action had more than 59,000 signatures on the petition as of Sunday afternoon, toward its goal of 75,000.

When Reagan died and everyone was suggesting naming various infrastructural things after him, Stephen Colbert had a funny line suggesting “The Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan International Airport”. It was really funny.

Liberals are nothing more than petulant children. So called issues such as a silly mountain name change is just spiteful and a ruse to deflect from more pressing issues. This charade has gone on during the entire tenure of Barry Soetoro’s fraudulent usurpancy.

if they were to change the name of the airport there would be a back lash that would hit liberals hard. Most liberals don’t understand that for the generation that lived through the cold war Ronald Reagan saved the world when he stood up to the soviet union. the liberals want to rewrite history so that the kids growing up do not realize that liberalism virtually through away that victory. the mess we have today can be blamed almost completely on the democratic party and the last three presidents we had.

I lived in DC for three years during law school. One of the very first things I was told about the city upon arriving was that no one there calls it Reagan National—always Washington National or just National—because they hate him so much. It was definitely one of those “I knew this city was liberal, but wow” moments.

Kinda beat me to it. When they demand that the Sen Robert Kennedy Bridge in NYC be reverted back to it’s original name, the Triboro, or rename the FDR Drive, then, MAYBE then we can talk. But then again, maybe it’s a good idea to leave the FDR as it is. This highway has been under perpetual reconstruction for the last 70 years, and may actually be sinking into the East River. A shining example of how just about everything the gov’t touches turns to shiite.

When I started getting petitions to sign that seemed equivocal, I got a little pickier about what I signed from CREDO. One I got today about L’Oreal convinced me that CREDO is not a social action site at all—they are a paid service for political and sales organizations.

I absolutely agree with the rater above—CREDO is a bunch of pandering profiteers, who will take attention away from the larger issues in order to sell you on a lie with their blathering about minutiae.

If you start signing the $#*! they send you, you will eventually embarrass yourself, as I have.

CREDO Action is one of the many online petition sites that you’ll see passed around facebook and e-mail. I signed at least one petition through them, and they began sending me regular e-mails, as most online petition sites do. (I’m also on the change.org and avaaz.org mailing lists.)

I do not like CREDO. For one, they are extremely liberally biased (and that’s saying something for me, as a social liberal). I was disturbed they were collecting money to “fight against the tea party.” There are so many social injustices in the world, why should they raise money to quell someone’s freedom of speech?

Maybe it will change as a generational thing, but that seems to be one of the biggest renaming fails I've ever seen. They renamed the bridge what, 7 years ago, and I have never once heard anyone call it anything other than the Triboro. Maybe traffic reporters and others who have to use the "official" name, but never in conversation.

Come to think of it, same thing with the Battery Tunnel--does anyone call it the Hugh Carey tunnel??

The petition says that because John Boehner and congressional Republicans complained when President Barack Obama restored Alaska's Mount McKinley name to Denali, they should stay consistent and change Ronald Reagan National Airport back to its original name honoring America’s first president, George Washington.

And, as always, Liberals cannot complete a single coherent comparison. If Republicans were against reverting McKinley back to Denali, then to be consistent, they would OPPOSE reverting Reagan back to Washington. Morons.
