Rocky backs Tim Tebow, but wants him to start
Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | 09/05/2015 | Rob Tornoe

Go ahead and buy yourself a Tim Tebow jersey, because Rocky Balboa has just endorsed Tebowmania in Philadelphia.

"How could you not like Tim Tebow?" Sylvester Stallone rhetorically asked a TMZ reporter yesterday after news that Eagles quarterback Matt Barkely was traded to the Cardinals, opening up a spot on the roster for Tebow.

Why did I think Tebow was playing for the Jets? Did the Jets just play Philly?

...He also brings more to the team then just his own athleticism. His positive attitude and leadership skills inspires the rest of the team to do better. Just having him on the field will probably add 10 points a game, without him even having to throw a ball or take a snap, because all the other teammates will step it up.

He is worth keeping on the roster for another reason. If his leadership and Christian example keeps a couple of other players on the straight and narrow and out of jail, he has done a lot more for the team than most.

Given Bradford’s very difficult injury history, and the erratic record of Sanchez over 6 seasons, you’re likely correct

Because he has a stunning record in the NFL and has improved his passing, I think he’s not a bad quarterback. In any event he’s certainly but a bad 3rd string quarterback. The guy they traded got out played by Tebow after 3 years with the team.

I remember another gutsy quarterback with limited skills, Jim McMahon, who I believe win a Super Bowl.

The insistence but some that Tebow is “not aa quarterback” also takes in cult like dimensions especially because it’s not a reality based statement. He is and has been an NFL quarterback.

The Eagles have winning records for many years they just have not won a Super Bowl.

His record in the NFL is mediocre, we still haven’t seen him on the field against starters, and his stats this pre-season are at best OK (nice completion percentage, too many sacks, too many fumbles, and again, 3rd stringers).

3rd string is where he’s been his entire career. Drafted by the Broncos and made 3rd string, traded to the Jets, 3rd string, picked up by the Pats, 3rd string (but they only carry 2 QBs, so out), now picked up by the Eagles... 3rd string.

Jim McMahon won because the Bear’s defense was amazing, at the time the best defense by any stat in NFL history. Doesn’t take much of a QB to win when your defense gives up the least points and yards ever. And look at what happened with the rest of his career (mostly backup, including when Brett Favre’s Packers won the SB, fun trivia for you there).

The insistence that Tebow is not a good NFL QB only takes paying attention to the stats. He’s a 3rd stringer, probably the most famous 3rd stringing in NFL history, possibly even the nicest, but still 3rd string material.

>>> I don't think the Eagle's coaching staff has it in them to start Tebow. They will likely be afraid of the political backlash that will come their way as many left wing Democrats hate religion and by extension they really hate Tim Tebow <<<

Chip Kelly has been very un-PC. One of his players (Riley Cooper) was taped using the N word but despite a huge PC backlash Kelly kept him on the team.
When Kelly got rid of gangster wannn-a-bees DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCcoy the usual suspects played the race card but Kelly was unfazed.

Tebow has been very popular with the fans. They know he is not a prima donna and a good teammate. There is also the hope that Kelly can find some a niche for him in his high octane offense.

You cultists need to learn that a person can point out a player’s flaws and not dislike them.

That's true (except for your reliance on a crutch of insults), but you show up on every Tebow thread being as negative as possible.

Like I said, I like him,

Hardly believable, given the evidence.

C’mon, man, don’t lump in Tim Tebow with lawbreakers — that’s beyond the pale. All teams have their share; the most famous Ravens player got away with murder. Tebow is a popular, upstanding guy who has lots of football skills, though throwing the ball consistently is not one of them. He’s worked hard & just wants a shot.

"... wife girlfriend killer/abusers..."

Enlighten us please...unless you're confusing the Baltimore Ravens with the Philadelphia Eagles of late, I can find no article in any Philly papers that talks about this.

It must drive the left nuts to know that Tim Tebow is back in the NFL, while Michael Sam couldn’t even make it as a member of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, and is now out of football completely.

Tebow being released? That is what I am seeing on the NFL network, I am sorry if this is so. Breaking news, I don’t watch the NFL network ordinarily, so I am unsure, will go check drudge out.

Tebow released indeed, I am saddened. One good thing about Football, I’ve given up on it, I may come around, I don’t mean to gripe about it.

What the heck are they thinking? They traded Barkely and cut Tebow, too. That means they’re going with two, no wait, one quarterback. Bradford was last one, maybe two games, then Sanchez will be the started and they’ll have to go out and find another quarterback or resign Tebow. What is Philly doing?
