TYLER (KYTX) People traveled from all over East Texas to see Sen. Ted Cruz speak at Smiths Lone Star Event Center. While many were Cruz supporters, others have not made up their mind about the GOP race.
I want to get a feel for him up close, said Randy Huntsberger, who traveled from Noonday. We're looking at several candidates. We haven't made a full decision of support, but we like a lot of things that he has stood for.
Others in the crowd have supported Cruz since his Senate race in 2012, once thought to be a long shot.
You know, in the Texas Senate race, every political observer said we didn't have a chance, Cruz told reporters outside the event. And the entire political establishment was against us. Just like in the presidential race, we're taking on the Washington cartel. We're taking on the career politicians in both parties.
That take no prisoners style helps to explain Cruz's appeal among the grassroots members of the party.
He's the best conservative candidate, said Kat Fox, who traveled from Kaufman County. He's done everything he said he would do and he sticks by his word.
Cruz also stopped in Ft. Worth and Kingwood during his tour of Texas.
Texas really only has one Senator, when was the last time the other guy ever poked his head out from McConnell’s butt... I don’t rightly remember
OK, home court advantage. Id be even more impress if he can get the same reception from the swing states of Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Colorado.
RE: What other candidate, besides Trump, do you see EVER drawing this sized crowd that Ted Cruz draws regularly?
Bernie Sanders, and that IS scary.
And if Cruz were elected president, Cornyn would take a nanosecond to turn on McConnell and pledge fealty to the new leader.
Of course, he'd be looking to move up a notch...into McConnell's office. But I don't think that's gonna happen...
It actually took me a full minute to remember dimwits name. he hasn’t made news at all this year it seems like.
LOL! That’s pretty much well said. We need to do another call in to Cornyn’s office.
He goes underground until his election cycle rolls around and never says a word of the grunt work he has accomplished for McConnell.
Cornyn HAS to go!
Yes he does have to go
I had signed up to attend this event because I was in the area from out of state for work, but it had turned into a long day on Thursday and I couldn’t break away in time. Sorry I missed it.
