Trump, After Republican Pledge, Breaks From Pack On Iran, Gay Marriage [What A LetDown!!]

Trump, After Republican Pledge, Breaks From Pack On Iran, Gay Marriage By Susan Heavey. WASHINGTON - Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday broke away from stances held by many of his rivals on issues ranging from the Iran nuclear deal to the gay marriage fight in Kentucky.

Trump's statements in a lengthy interview on MSNBC came one day after signing the party's loyalty pledge.

He called the Iran nuclear agreement "a disastrous deal" and "a horrible contract," but said he would work with it.

Many of the 16 other Republicans seeking the party's nomination for the 2016 presidential election have vowed to immediately undo the Obama administration's agreement if they win office. But Trump, a wealthy businessman, reiterated his view that too much money was at stake and his rivals were wrong to say they would rip it up.

"This is the perfect example of taking over a bad contract," he said, adding that he would be tough in enforcing it.

Closer to home, Trump also eschewed rivals on the Kentucky battle over gay marriage. Some Republicans loudly backed Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, who opted for jail time rather than issue any marriage licenses following the U.S. Supreme Court's June ruling in support of gay marriage.

"We are a nation of laws," Trump said. "The decision's been made, and that's the law of the land."

He didn't break any agreement.

He only agreed not to run as a 3rd party or Independent candidate.

i’m with him, and don't agree with half the things the rest of the jerks running are for either.

I agree...and that’s just it....our nation is “ripe” to be mislead after this Obama administration...and why we must be extremely cautious in who we support for our nominee.....

What we see happening with Trump rings much like Obamas rise ...which should be a yellow light....Trump is a very engaging personality because he’s saying what people have felt throughout this administration...but that is not enough reason to vote for him...and the press is not helping by eliminating these other candidates from being given equal face time with the press.

Have you listened to Sanders at all?....the two sound very much alike in some very revealing respects....

I sometimes wonder if Trump, Sanders and even Biden stepping up are all to do the heavy lifting Hillary (healthwise) cann not do.....she simply cannot fight Obama’s take down of the Clintons and also run her campaign....

It is fair to say NOTHING is at it seems in this election....we need to be so very cautious.

Cruz invited Trump to speak...but Trump is promoting it as a joint venture....there will be several speakers but as usual Trump ‘needs’ to somehow gain the spotlight on himself...as usual.

...” Cruz’s brain into Trump’s would work as well”....

God forbid!...let it be enough Trump can't operate without Cruz's impute...and Trump knows this all too well....most Trump followers do not see that clearly enough..yet.

I didn’t hear him say that - and get real - Trump will bring the crowds and media. I know Mark Levin is going to speak, as is Glenn Beck and a couple others. I haven’t heard Trump say it was a joint venture. Possibly, he doesn’t even know who is going to speak either. My God, the criticism never stops, does it?

Has Mr. Trump considered the clerk’s First Amendment rights...at all.

And what the heck is he going to say at the Iran rally next week. Oh, Nevermind??

You are delusional. Trump has operated quite well without Cruz’s input. What alternative universe are you living in?

The MSM better wipe that smile from their faces—They see that as a way to get the Nut case religious Evangelicals mad at Trump. He’s right—the lady should have resigned if it was such a big deal. They gave her an out but she wouldn’t take it. Same with the Iran Deal—its not a treaty you can just rip up. Obama was smart on that. Let Donald get his hands on that treaty and see what loopholes he can make

Trump plays to win...period....that is his game be it deceptively or otherwise....and he’s played that way in business as well. So any who expect Trump will “do the right thing” needs to understand ‘Trumps idea’ of what is right....which is simply to win by any means available to use to obtain that.

When this is all over Trump wins no matter if it’s the election or not.

Trump also eschewed rivals on the Kentucky battle over gay marriage.

When Trump says it, he's right. When Fiorina says it, she's wrong.

[What A LetDown!!]

Not to anyone who knows what Donald Trump really is. We'll say it again nice and slowly -- this man is NOT a conservative.

Some of us have been trying to point this out for awhile on this site.

...”Trump will bring the crowds and media”...

Cruz doesn’t need that...he’s been doing just fine without Trump....in fact more than fine. It’s not about who Trump brings to the table...it’s about a united front.

As for criticism of Trump....he does indeed set himself up for that...willingly and purposely so...it’s only his followers who have difficulty with it...not Trump.

They don’t care if Trumps Conservative or not and some have spoken to that very thing......reminds me of when Obama was running and no matter how hard people tried in vain to expose the truth about Obama those voters didn’t want to listen either...and never did.

Nobody really knows which way Trump will “turn”....but we can with certainty know that that he will do... as evidenced already.

...”Believe what you want”....

It’s not about belief...it’s about wisdom to discern these candidates and where they stand....Trumps ground is not ‘solid ‘which he’s attempting to stand on...quite the opposite as he evidences that very clearly.

Haahhhhh! I think one difference is Trump has enormous enthusiasm because he’s fighting- he loves a fight. Cruz has passion because he has some guiding principles. That doesn’t mean either one is immune to compromise or having a change of mind. I’d wager though that Cruz has had fewer changes of mind than has Trump. Trump’s convictions seem shallow and superficial to me.

But, I’ve been wrong before. I was a tremendous fan of Fred Thompson. ..but I learned from that. I projected a great deal onto Fred that simply wasn’t there.
