MADISON, Wis. - A Madison police officer was confronted by a crowd and punched after a street fight on Prairie Road Wednesday night, according to a release from Madison police.
The officer stopped in the area of Prairie Road and Jacobs Way around 6:20 p.m. after spotting a large number of people in the street. He said that as he approached he saw a woman punch a man in the face, and he could see that the woman had a can of pepper spray.
The officer said that as he went to arrest the woman he was surrounded by a crowd that was voicing anti-police sentiments, including "We need to start killing these officers."
Police said the womans daughter was grabbing the officer while trying to free her mother. The officer said he tried to diffuse the situation by explaining to the crowd that the woman had just punched someone and was armed with pepper spray. Police said his words were ignored, and the struggle with the two people continued.
The older woman punched the officer in the face and grabbed him by the throat, according to the release.
The officer said he could see many in the crowd were recording the incident on their cellphones while some accused him of misconduct and using excessive force.

Obsolete farm equipment.
I think it’s time for police officers to patrol in pairs.
The Solution to (this) Pollution is Diffusion.
I notice on your home page you refer to the "good Lord." Would that be the same Lord who wrote the Bible, which says that "All [including you and me] have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"? So then, you are the same species as them, after all: a sinner.
I suggest you find a clearer way of expressing your quite understandable distaste with their behavior while still recognizing their common humanity and ancestry. Otherwise, in your pride as being so "civilized," you run the very real personal risk of failing to realize that you, too, need to repent and ask that "good Lord" to be your Savior, and then you'll find yourself occupying the same location as those individuals you so despise, eternally. Good luck with that.
You ever think these people just toss a bunch of scrabble tiles onto a table and whatever comes up they use as a name?
After an hour or so standing holding his revolver in the hot sun, another patrol car passed, saw the commotion, and came finally to his aid. They had to pry the gun out of his log-ago-numb fingers: he couldn't have fired it if he'd tried. And, according to the show, this incident provided the impetus for persuading the Depression-era City Council to spring for car radios.
Lol! That's what I ask people I know when I see these names. Are you sure we don't know each other? lol
I think we just share the same kind of sense of humor.
That is how our cities here in NJ are “policed”; they do nothing in the welfare hatcheries. When Newark NJ laid off over 160 cops a few years ago (in the midst of a homicide spree), it made no difference at all. Many of those jobs have just become wealth redistribution schemes to transfer Anglo tax dollars to blacks & Hispanics.
yep, the self cleaning oven.
just scoop up the ashes when the timer goes “ding”
carry on,
When I was working in the newspaper biz in Memphis, I spent more than a few early mornings in a McDonalds knocking down an early breakfast while MPD and Shelby County cops were filling out their reports and logbooks from the activities of the night before, and during one conversation, that very subject came up.
It was explained to me that in the local hospitals charity wards where a great many such names originated, bored interns stuck with duty in the OB wards *helped* inexperienced [sometimes] and drugged [usually] recent mothers choose names for their new offspring. The all-time classic came for young mother King's son, whose name was inspired by a sign on the OB ward's hallway. And that was how he got the name Nosmo.
My all time favourite has been the kids whose mothers liked the sound of a French name, but could not spell Antoinne. Accordingly, we now have little Antwons and Antwans running around.
Latonya and Nanyamka ...
Says it all.
“*thing on the left?”
My first thoughts were unprintable but then I asked myself ‘who would breed with that?’.
Their names are made up by using the first initials of their possible fathers.
