With shackles around her ankles and waist, this is the moment the defiant Kentucky clerk who is refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses was led away from federal court - and taken to jail.
Kim Davis, 49, was told by U.S. District Judge David Bunning on Thursday that she would stay behind bars until she complied with his order to resume issuing the licenses to gay couples.
Donning a blue top and striped skirt, Davis, a thrice-divorced Apostolic Christian who works at Rowan County Courthouse, said 'thank you' before being led from the courtroom by a marshal.
She later insisted that she would not accept a compromise that would allow her out of jail. Attorneys for the plaintiffs had proposed to the court that Davis be freed if she promised not to interfere with her deputies. But Davis refused - noting her name would still be on the licenses.

I hate to say it but every word you said is true. It’s all fine and well to say “but conservatives have jobs”, and all the glib supposedly humorous reasons we give for not making a stand together, so when will principle become more important? When they start firing any Christian who lets it be known that they’re a Biblical Christian? When they start jailing preachers for preaching The Word? What will it take? I hope this poor lady didn’t foresee thousands or even hundreds of Christians coming to Kentucky to support her, because it ain’t happening. Maybe if they threaten her with years of prison time, but I wouldn’t bet on it even then. What are we waiting for, where will the line be where we begin to realise that we are going to be forced to make a public stand and fight, or just admit to ourselves that our Christian principles mean less to us in our lives than any dozen earthly concerns?
“Hillary Clinton says, the clerk has to obey the law and suffer the consequences of not doing so.”......
How ironic and absurd, a Clinton, and in particular this one, saying the clerk has to obey the law. Hitlary, one of the greatest law breakers this country has ever seen telling someone they have to obey the law.
What about Mrs. Clinton herself?
She's refused to issue marriage licenses to anyone, heterosexual couples or same-sex couples.
Another disturbing trend I've noticed over the years.
Cops don't give warnings any more. Cops aren't the friendly neighborhood peace officer any more. These days, cops enforce the law with extreme prejudice. There is no reasoning with them. Shoot/arrest first and ask questions later. The citizen is the enemy.
Cops arrest EVERY SINGLE TIME for EVERY REASON these days - or no reason.
All the threats and shooting against cops the past few weeks, though terrible, I can certainly understand them.
American cops have reaped what they've sown.
sounds like someone else read about Cruz's argument.
Here's a way to become useful instead of just channeling the good guys:
>> Most so-called Christians will hate her and heap abuse on her because her actions reveal their own hypocrisy and moral cowardice.
“Most”? Really? I’m not seeing that, from my perhaps narrow view out onto the world. All Christians I know are praying for her and drawing strength from her faith and commitment to CHRIST.
>> Take a look at the other threads on this subject.
Post an example, please.
...someone up thread said somewhat the same thing. I’m not convinced the judge is that smart. I want to hear it directly from his lips not ours. I’m quite sure had that angle been introduced, two things might have taken place. First, two wrongs don’t make a right, heard in Federal court by myself in attendance at a bogus trial on petition gathering at a US Post Office. The other was the “out” wherein the Judge rules the evidence irrelevant.
Yes Ted Cruz has been solid on the attack on our first Amendment which specifically names religion.
This is not America. I do not pledge allegiance. I am in rebellion.
“Down with the Eagle and up with the Cross.”
Yep, small idiot minded folks who want to say God is not real, and if he was He would not be like Jesus>>
God to Earth, Bow Low before my King whom I have set above the Heavens, those who deny Him Kick me in the teeth, I will no longer be still.., America will fall, the world no longer is using it’s blessings for God’s will
The world can hate Christians but they have no idea what time on earth world will be without Christ..
ON a similar experience..
many years ago I started a conversation on a street corner with a few folks about Christ, the topic was is this world dead to God..It can be seen as a Christian that our goal is eternal life, which at present is not here. well the conversation grew and grew and before long we had about 100 folks on the street corner debating this and the traffic was getting blocked, so an officer came and decided to arrest me but gave no charge, would not tell me why I was being arrested, went to Ft Myers, fl jail for the weekend, saw the judge in the morning.. I told Him we were discussing if this world is dead in the aspect of don’t live for it, its dead...
The judge looked at the officer and said what is the charge?
The officer said I don’t have one but had to clear the streets. The judge told me to not disturb the streets this way, I said, I have the right to speak in this country I will not stop street preaching..he smiled and shook His head and said, look I have been a Christian for 30 years and I don’t have to preach in the streets to know I am a Christian, I smiled and said, I already Know I am a Christian, and God calls me to reach out to all, and personally you should try a little street preaching to fill your soul with something else..service to God in all.
He said if I let you, I said If? what’s the charge? he said there is none, the officer said, I will make one..I laughed and told them they don’t scare me, fear God..
The judge then said this is outrageous, get out of here..I don’t want to see you come back, I laughed and said don’t arrest people for doing good..and you won’t.
That was in the seventies...arrested in America for street preaching..they are OK with it as long as it is what they want to hear. Today they have made faith a crime..
The country will pay for its kick in God’s teeth.
The appropriate escorting will be on a rail dressed in tar and feathers accompanied by pitchforks, not just for these judges, but as well for the FedLEO who decided this County Clerk required cuffing.
The liberals are going to force R2! And instantly be surprised.
More Kentucky state law:
402.020 Other prohibited marriages.
(1) Marriage is prohibited and void:
(d) Between members of the same sex
Why in the world is she shackled!? What’s she going to do, run off with their pens? Most definitely obama is making her an example.
************************************************
I do blame the judge, although I also recognize he is in a difficult position.
I blame him because, at the end of his remarks, he espoused the clear lie that we are under the rule of law, when the SCOTUS ruling on homosexual marriage clearly is in violation of the 1st amendment (and natural law).
If he had warned her sternly that she can’t refuse to issue licenses, but refused to jail or otherwise punish her (such as with fines - which is what the homosexual activists wanted) because of her 1st amendment rights, I wouldn’t blame him.
But, instead, he ignores the enumerated right in favor of the invented one. May his penumbra lie heavy on his heart!
They really had to shackle her?
Being a Christian in the US today is like being a Jew in 1933 Germany. It will get more “interesting”, and quickly.
This is freedom of religion in America.
Pray America is waking
