Is she selling the New South or auditioning for a 2016 presidential campaign spot?
Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina is generating buzz that shed be in the mix for the Republican vice presidential spot in 2016, following her successful handling of the removal of the Confederate flag from the statehouse grounds after the shooting deaths of nine African-Americans inside a historic Charleston church.
Appearing Wednesday at the National Press Club, Haley teetered between deflective and receptive to the VP talk, at first dismissing it as a way-too-early political exercise, given that 17 Republicans are still elbowing each other to win the Republican presidential nomination.
Im not wasting any energy or any time thinking about that because Ive got too much to do, she said after her speech. Im trying to continue to heal the state, were trying to get back on track because we lost time, getting ready for a legislative session. . . . Ive got a son in middle school, I got a daughter whos a senior in high school, Ive a husband who just came back from Afghanistan.
That said, If theres a time where a presidential nominee wants to sit down and talk, of course I will sit down and talk, she added.
Since the Confederate flag debate erupted, Haley has seen her star rise on the national stage.

Go away, Nikki.
“her successful handling of the removal of the Confederate flag”
led to my successful handling of the removal of her for consideration of any office.
You really think so? There was not much of a reaction. From what I can tell, most Republicans in SC have given up on their heritage and embrace corporate globalism. These people re-elected Lindsey Graham for crying out loud.
Hey, easy there, the dog catchers at least earn their paycheck.
Good point.
She has been pissing off conservatives lately, so of course the media touts her for VP
Yep. What this country needs is another PC quisling. Run, Nikki, run!
Nikki, your 15 minutes are over. It’s time to move on.
You showed your ass with the flag and savage immigrants.
Perhaps you can find employment with lobbying for out-source firms.
Why don’t you work on that “untouchable/caste” thing in India.
America , grossly, worked through its issues of that nature in terms of legal representation a generation ago.
(Yes, I understand Goldman Sachs / JP Morgan Chase, etc, etc, etc (and many northeastern/great lakes firms) still hold cards that hearken to back to current Indian culture/politics)
Dream on Nicki. Trump is not interested. Kiss our grits.
I think the USA has a testosterone gap at the top of our government, already. The girls have been running the State Department. Look how that turned out. And, Valerie and Mooshell are loose in the Executive.
Haley needs to stay home and manage her house or something, for awhile.
That would be Jeb Bush.
No, the conservatives don’t reelect Graham, the Dems do.....SC has open primaries. The Dems never even run their own candidates against Graham. They have the best Dem already on office.
Nikki is a Willardbot.
A cold day in H E double hockey sticks!
At one time I thought highly of her now I don’t. She’s too PC and no Guts. Sorry Nikki can’t support any ticket you are on.
She does have a capital E after her party affiliation doesn’t she.
The most worthless governor in the country. She can forget about it.
One image that remains in my memory is her gloating, smirking face after her order to remove the rebel flag. Such schadenfreude! She was ecstatic for having done it, contrary to what she had promised while running for office.
Then Nikki thought she had a winner in jumping on the anti-Trump bandwagon. But that got derailed. She is disgusting.
Nikki Haley got the Tea Party cred by having Erick Erickson and Palin campaign for her. Also Mark Sanford’s campaign team backed her as well. Haley does have a relationship with Romney going back in 2008, when she endorsed him. Should Romney decide to run again, I think Romney may pick Haley as his Veep.
