"If they can order anything, the sensible thing would be to order her fired."They can't. It's an elected office.

That state voted 75% in favor of defining marriage in the normal way.

The simplest, most effective, and most conservative solution is to remove the government from marriage. Actually, there is an even easier solution. Mrs. Davis is objecting because as county clerk, her signature is required to be on the marriage license, above a statement that says that the marriage is occurring under her authority. To her, that says that she PERSONALLY is giving approval for the people receiving the license to marry. The state could easily change the law removing the requirement that the county clerk's signature be on the license. Or they could change the wording of the license to simply say that the license is being issued pursuant to state law, and remove the language that says that the marriage is taking place under the authority of the county clerk. Either one would resolve this issue.

Today, we have observed the first casualty of post-Christian America’s persecution of Christians.

Heavy handed for sure, but she works for the state, and should have simply quit, or allowed someone else to do what she didnt want to. No she shouldn't have. The Other 50 state officials should have told the Supreme court to go F*** themselves. We should have had universal defiance.

Sheriff doesn’t trump Fed on Federal property.
A Federal Courthouse is Federal property.
To: jsanders2001
The sheriff CAN arrest the US Marshall. Also the sheriff can deputize men as he sees fit.

The Lessons of Athens
Those who took up arms in Athens, Tennessee, wanted honest elections, a cornerstone of our constitutional order. They had repeatedly tried to get federal or state election monitors and had used armed force so as to minimize harm to the law-breakers, showing little malice to the defeated law-breakers. They restored lawful government.
The Battle of Athens clearly shows how Americans can and should lawfully use armed force and also shows why the rule of law requires unrestricted access to firearms and how civilians with military-type firearms can beat the forces of government gone bad.
Dictators believe that public order is more important than the rule of law. However, Americans reject this idea. Brutal political repression is lethal to many. An individual criminal can harm only a handful of people, but governments can brutalize thousands or millions.
Law-abiding McMinn County residents won the Battle of Athens because they were not hamstrung by “gun control.” They showed us when citizens can and should use armed force to support the rule of law.
It is almost Time!!!

NOT Photoshopped.

There are no laws that say same-sex marriage is legal. But there are laws that say marriage is strictly between a man and a woman. It’s just that simple but we are living in lawless, godless times.
To: Ray76
If that should happen, All the Feds would have to say is, “Step aside or you will lose your Federal Funds”. The Sheriff would step back at the speed of light. Ditto when they are told to go round up legitimate gun owners.

Who is the judge?
Who appointed this judge?

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other.” ~~

The punishment for Religious Freedom is that you will no longer be employable by the State. First thing the Nazis did was to ban Jews from holding government positions. This is the same tactic but coming at us through the back door.

Her “bosses” are the people of Rowan County. They elected her. Do you suggest that the citizens of Rowan County be jailed too?
