Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to GOD the things that are God’s.

But when Caesar usurps the things that are GOD’S then the Chrisitan suffers because we will not eat of the sacrifices to god Caesar.

And that old render unto Caesar verse is always horribly misconstrued. Government loves that verse. By the strict standard some use, the colonists were sinners for fighting King George. That Sophie Scholl was wrong to resist Hitler.

Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a witty remark by Christ when the Pharisees were trying to use trickery to get him to say nobody should pay taxes to the Romans. They started with flattery and then asked him to rule. They expected to easily turn him into nothing more than an earthly anti-roman revolutionary.
He asked one of them for a coin. He asked who’s head was on it.
Basically he said it must belong to Caesar and walked off leaving them in slack jawed defeat.

It has nothing to do with “Christians must obey every rule the government makes”. Politicians would love you to think otherwise.
