A close associate tells POLITICO that Donald Trump plans to sign a loyalty pledge Thursday that would bind him to endorse the Republican nominee, and would preclude a third-party run. Trump made the stunning decision, which he has long resisted, to avoid complications in getting listed on primary ballots, and to take away an attack line in the next debate, the associate said.
Trump, who has led the GOP field in poll after poll, has long viewed the threat of a third-party candidacy as priceless leverage and even used that word when he refused to take such a pledge in the first debate, on Aug. 6.

“What did he get for this, I wonder? What if the GOPe pull dirty tricks to deny him the nomination? Will he stand for that? “
Like what? Bribe the GOP primary voters to not vote for him?
Despite your (and many others on Free Republic) paranoia about the GOP establishment it will be the primary VOTERS who will determine the GOP nominee.
Cruz or Carson or Carly are my first picks. If it is Bush I will hold my nose and vote for him.
If it is Trump I will get drunk first and then hold my nose and vote for him.
If it is the later I will cry for my beloved country on election night as I watch the Democrats celebrate a third presidential win to carry on The Fool In The White House’s policies along wth their retaking of the U.S. SENATE.
BUT the Trump worshipers will celebrate their win over the hated GOPe
Awesome!!! @realDonaldTrump will be making some #SocialMedia history this afternoon. Supporters have asked & #Trump2016 will deliver!— Daniel Scavino Jr. (@DanScavino) September 3, 2015

Sorry if this is a repeat comment but what is this country, Nazi Germany? The vanquished South? A Kingdom?
Since when to we acknowledge ANYTHING called a “Loyalty Pledge”!
Don’t sign it just on principle.....
I believe the delegates decide the nominee.
Oh sorry, my bad. I thought the voters had something to do with it.
Folks, we’re speaking of a man who has made his fortune making deals, creating contracts, and dealing with every manner of dirt bag in existence. He knows what he’s doing here.
Trump has thought through and knows what he’s doing.
Mitt won with a plurality lest you forget.

That was my original point.
