Donald Trump's rhetoric on immigration has sparked his surge in the polls. But it is his economic critique of the GOP, and his attack on the financial corruption of the Republican donor class and leadership, that is a mortal threat to the party.
Over the weekend, Byron York reported on Donald Trump's efforts to form a "comprehensive" plan on tax reform. He has signaled an interest in raising taxes on the richest Americans, and he has set his targets on the carried-interest loophole favored by hedge fund managers. He has said repeatedly that hedge funds pay too little in taxes, and that he himself is willing to pay a larger share to "make America great again." Trump has essentially said that his preference is for middle-class tax cuts.

The Koch brothers are generally a force for political good in America, but their short-sighted support of cheap labor (and open borders) is a major political blindspot, as it is for many libertarians.

I'm also not disagreeing that deregulation is (usually) desirable, my exceptions are support for anti-trust laws and for something analogous to Glass-Steagall to prevent debacles where people's savings get dumped into high risk securities. The point, however, is that there will be no capitalist economy to deregulate if the people and culture that make a capitalist economy and a constitutional Republican possible become a "minority" in the US.
Ted Cruz is a man who has a decades-long track record of opposing the elements of national decline you mention in your post.
I tend to agree with you. The only problem with eliminating “loopholes”, however, is that eventually, the Dhimmicraps will be back in control and they’ll raise rates — and the deductions that mitigated the rates are gone.
We should create some sort of “snapback” mechanism that restore s the deductions as the rates go up.

Thanks! I was thinking that, but thought I'd be generous with Trump for the moment. It's like stepping on sharp stones with Trump, while he brings to the fore needed discourse, but I have little taste for him as actual POTUS.
Exactly my view of Trump. On the one hand, I'm glad that there's somebody in the race who emphasizes immigration and the national question (Cruz has most of the right views, but where's the emphasis?). On the other hand, I think his political history marks him as someone with no real core convictions or ideology at all (including the immigration question). Trump is the most glaring example I've seen of "right message, wrong messenger" in years.
Rush was saying that most of the hedge fund magnates are Liberal Democrats. Trump is truly diabolical. LOL
Crony capitalists to provide the dough.
Entitlement Army to provide the votes.
It worked well for Dems in 08 and 12.

You’ve got to be kidding. He’ll clean house. Remember, he is a businessman, forever watching the bottom line and being frugal. That’s why he is a dealmaker, to get the best and least costly deal. He will apply that same frugality to gov’t. He will start with the VA. Trump will cut waste where needed and will spend where justified or worth it, such as on Vets. You will be happy about what he will accomplish. And Trump is high energy; he will take a meat cleaver to any impediments (and to any gov’t officials who get in his way too, lol).
I'd turn this around and ask if there is anything Trump has said or done that his supporters would criticize him for. Trump has made many statements quite recently that his supporters would be ripping if they came from the mouth of any other candidate.
As I said, I'm glad that he's in the race talking about illegal immigration, but I don't have his supporters' selective amnesia about the times that Trump attacked anti-amnesty politicians just a few years ago.
