There is something about Trump.
He has the it factor. While travelling through Ireland with a tour group earlier this summer, the first question I received from a blue-collar Canadian couple was about Donald Trump. The man, a leader in his local building trades union, stated on multiple occasions, Maybe its time for a man of business to lead your country. Hardly the sentiment one would expect from a union man.
At home, a friend who works as a school bus driver and maid tentatively asked me about him ending the neutral conversation with her strong declaration of support. I doubt that this smart, hard-working, woman has ever registered to vote, but she will to vote for The Donald.
Each of these people know something is very wrong with our country and that the system is broken, and each independently have come to the conclusion that Donald Trumps brand of straight shooting is what is needed to fix it.
Political platitudes and slick campaign commercials cannot compare to the politically incorrect businessman who has heads nodding across the nation, even as political elites are scratching theirs.
The appeal is simple. The people see Trump as authentic and a direct contrast to Jeb Bush or other candidates being pushed by the inside-the-Beltway establishment. A billionaire, who doesnt need the job, willingly accepting that some business partners will choose to end their relationship due to his positions because he sees his nation in trouble.
Republican consultants think they can beat Trump by talking about issues, never realizing that the public doesnt believe any of them because, too often, their actions have not matched their rhetoric. All the rules about credibility have been thrown out the window.

Trump is neither a social conservative nor an economic conservative
In Trump, there has finally emerged a Republican whose messages the uninformed can understand and relate to.
So the author probably has business ties to Trump, he is hardly unbiased.
The author intimates that the last chance to derail Trump is to fight the debt ceiling raise to come this fall.
We expect that finally the Republican majorities will negotiate meaningful cuts during the debt ceiling fight,
But even if they do it this time, it will not derail Trump. It will be seen for what it will be. A last ditch attempt
To actually do at least one thing we sent them there to do.
List of what professional politicians of the conservative stripe have delivered since House went GOP majority in 2010, and senate went GOP majority in 2014:
1) Nothing
2) Zero
3) Nada
4) Shunya
5) μηδέν
6) нулю
7) Null
No wonder Trump & Carson are at top of the polls.
Exactly. This is why Trump is unstoppable. No one is listening to any of the others because no one believes them anymore. Cruz excepted, of course.
Exactly right.. I am so FED UP with ALL politicians. I don’t believe any of them. In some ways Cruz is more polarizing than Trump, Carson seem to have the experience in business or politics necessary for the ‘blood sport’ (nice guy, I met him, love him)... Trump, at this point, seems to be our only choice. You are never going to return this country to the ‘small government’ (prior to the Civil War), culturally uniform (sort of), Judeo-Christian based, non-imperial model that you wish. It is gone. Sorry. I wish it weren’t that way. WE need to deal with what is, rather than unrealistic ‘I wish it was’. Like the Dems we need to take what we can get and push back on small bite at a time. Getting jobs back, getting factories back, stopping illegal immigration, dumping the IRS code... these are not bad places to start... Go Trump.
Have you read any of Trump’s books?
What is a conservative? What do they believe in?
No I haven't, and maybe I should. I know (from reading here at FR...) that my concerns or questions about his IRS stance have been answered in print; his position is very good. Very clear. I like Cruz better, but Trump is quite satisfyingly radical. A system that tops out at %15 is pretty good.
The whole Planned Parenthood chopping up babies and selling the parts has my attention. Boehner and McConnell will do nothing. Cruz has promised to prosecute. Trump seemed to be on Cruz's wavelength but may have softened a bit. He keeps saying "I'm very strong on women's health issues" but never explains what he means. He is against abortion, he was clearly shocked by the O'Keefe videos about them, but he seems to want to say he will de-fund abortion while funding the "good parts". Thats what I'm waiting for, for clarity.
Cruz's weak point is the H1b for me. Trump, so far, has me listening between the lines on social issues. After Trump and Cruz, there isn't anyone else for me.
This election is about starting the process to destroy the Washington Cartel. It is going to be a fight and will take years (and a lot of money) to wrestle control away from the few and return it to the people. It means replacing most of the leaders in all three branches of government.
Good point and one to keep in mind. The minutiae of this or that policy position do matter but there is a bigger picture which is overthrowing the Washington Cartel. If we fail to do that every gain will just be rolled back.
Given the following lines from the article, I think your non-sequiter rant about Trump being a conniver is misplaced in this thread.
“A billionaire, who doesnt need the job, willingly accepting that some business partners will choose to end their relationship due to his positions because he sees his nation in trouble.”
These negative ads they are putting up with Trump from a hundred years ago saying he thinks he’s a Democrat and he’s pro choice yada yada are going to backfire. everybody already knows about this stuff and Trump has admitted it. Its not going to work.
Cruz’s weak point is the H1b for me.
Trump is on-board with Cruz’s H1-b platform... He’s claims the idea..
try to keep Up... d;-)~....

I do NOT.. agree
” Cruz -OR- Trump “ is as important to christians or anyone else religious in America Currently.. in this “season”
Very Sequiter(follows).. who is a christian?.. OR NOT.. liberal or conservative..
Cruz’s father is a pastor(conservative).. and he is a “believer”... aka. christian..
What is TRUMP?.. hard to tell.. a christian or a Judas..?
Was Judas a christian?..
“The Trump candidacy represents that even conservatives are New Deal Democrats now.”
A Democrat of 1949 is preferable to a Republican of 2014, at least most of them.
Trump is a populist, and he is an outsider. The ruling elite is taking us to disaster. Perhaps Trump will have Cruz as a running mate or a strong adviser.
You cannot have a limited government country without a country.
The ruling elite has been moving us toward a system where the constitution is an awkward footnote.
I think Trump will respect it far more than Obama has, and likely more than Romney, would have.
For one thing, with Trump, you will actually have a media “watchdog”.
Do you have any doubt that President Trump will build a wall and finally seal the border? Can you say that about any other of these shysters?
He’s pretty straight forward about his thoughts and decisions to cure America of her “political illness”. He is pretty straight forward in his thinking about the wrongs in America today and ways he would like to cure them. I think we need to listen to his speeches, read his books and we’ll understand where he wants America to be. I like him and Cruz too. They will make a good team.
Right now the moneyed political pushers are behind Carson.(they are afraid of the Donald) I think he’s a nice man and does have experience “running” a department in a hospital. That’s good experience, but he did not have to put up with the bought politicians, lobbyists and other moneyed individuals wanting THEIR wishes put before and on the American populace. I think Trump has the experience, negotiating with tough people, he has the ability to listen to their point of view and still negotiate win his point.
