Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 3m3 minutes ago Manhattan, NY
President Obama wants to change the name of Mt. McKinley to Denali after more than 100 years. Great insult to Ohio. I will change back!
Yes. The Department of the Interior has the legal authority.
Well said!
In my view bambam could care less about the name of the mountain. He has a platform to promote with the enviro-nazis and figures this will enhance his legacy as the _resident that stood up for something. He's a real sh*thead.
It’s about history.
I do. Everyone calls it Denali. Alaska wants it called Denali. Sarah Palin calls it Denali. The Department of the Interior has the legal authority to change the name. A few congressmen in Ohio who’ve never and who never will see the mountain are the ones opposed.
I’m George W. Bush had done this, no one in Free Republic would have said a word.
This is why conservatives look like idiots sometime. We grab and hold onto the wrong bones.
Interestingly enough, Trump’s grandfather Frederick started the family fortune by operating a restaurant/hotel during the Klondike gold rush. So he has ties to Alaska ... Mt. Trump?
Mr McKinley
Denali National Park
Perfect like it was
He and and First Lady Horiblis hate any white folks except political donations
Worst people to ever occupy the office exponentially
It’s like we elected Stokely Carmichael and an uglier Anglea Davis
On this one? Yes. The people of Alaska have been trying for more than 50 years to get the name changed. Almost nobody there refer to it as anything but Denali. For Trump to brag that he'll change the name back is a slap in the face of everyone there.
Mc Kinley was assassinated, the U.S. should honor his service.
Absolutely.
Name a high point in Ohio after him, then.
He could rename Trump Tower in NY to McKinley Tower.
I generally like the idea of states having sovereignty over there territory.
On the name tho, I think it was Mt. McKinley before Alaska was a state.
and it was Denali for centuries before that.
Here’s a good spot to rename Mt. McKinley. It’s even in Ohio, so all his fans can drive right up.

Bolshaya Gora (big mountain). I recall that in the 1960's, I read a gazetteer--probably published before the 1960's--that still listed "Bolshaya" as an alternative name to "McKinley." This publication didn't refer to "Denali," a name I never heard until maybe 20--odd years ago.
My brother climbed to the top of the mountain in 1977, and he never called it anything other than McKinley.
How do you know it was Denali?
As I asked before, what did the Russians call it?
You’re right, state rights should rule. I wish our congressmen were working on this decades old problem from New York and Jersey.

It chaps my ass tons of New York city trash have been coming into my state for decades.
Thanks.
How do I know? Because that’s the Athabascan name for it.
I could care less what the Russians called it. They likely never saw it. Most of their interest was in the sea otter fur trade. Their capitol was in Sitka, hundreds of miles away.
I don’t think The Donald wants anything to do with that dump. Atlantic City is bad enough...
How do you know that was their name for it? Did someone record that info back in the 1800?
