In fairness, the Monmouth poll was taken after the DMR poll. Trump is still holding steady, Carson is the flavor of the month now that Walker and Rubio have been discarded.
“The impact of trade deals would be miniscule, unless he decides to erect a bunch of tariffs, which would throw our economy into chaos and probably hurt more peoples pocketbooks than it helped.”
Oh, I see, Obama’s Iran trade deal is miniscule to you. Yeah, no bad implications there, right? Right. /s
I heard that Jeb! Is behind this. I think the GOPe can control Dr. Carson!
There is no point for Trump to go after the man personally or Ted Cruz for that matter. He can simply say, the man is a good and decent person, and in time he might very well be president, but for now he’s not the right man for the job.
Explain that big of a discrepancy in numbers. One of the two polls is wrong.
“Explain that big of a discrepancy in numbers.”
Okay. Monmouth University poll. Can you say “lying liberal pieces of crap?”
GOPe is behind this. Push up one outsider to get rid of Trump, then take Carson down.
Jeb won’t get it, but after they eliminate Trump they can easily manage the rest of the conservative candidates and put in a more compliant GOPe candidate. There are enough spares running!!!
Carson brings minorities back into the fold.

Rats would get 95% of the black vote instead of 96%.
Please do not think I am taking anything away from Dr. Carson, but frankly a man whose net worth is billions of dollars definitely has a big brain to go along with the big mouth.
The MOE for each poll is +/-5%. The polls weren’t taken simultaneously. It’s not out of line with the probable reality.
The Carson phenomenon makes no sense. “He’s black and he’s nice and he’s smart! Did I mention he’s black?” I’m sure it will pass.
In the absence of game-changing situation, a sudden 15 point shift of any kind that quickly really makes me question a poll’s veracity.
Good contrast from last month. Carson has moved up in the Monmouth poll at the expense of Walker and Bush. Out of all the early states, Trump will have to work smart in Iowa to win it.
Panic in Trumpland.
Nah, not really. Trump is likely ahead in 40 plus states and still on top in Iowa. Trump is +10% from his last Monmouth July poll. Carson personality plays well in Iowa, and it has come at the expense of Bush and Walker. See post #22.
He isn't a wheeler-dealer, he doesn't understand the presidential diplomacy role, nor the military, how to put pressure on Congress, etc.; he's a lost lamb in so many much needed areas. An d if he did get the nomination.....he'd lose.
I does look like Carson’s gains are at the expense of Jebby and Walker...
>> There is no point for Trump to go after the man personally <<
No point? What about generating nationwide publicity like crazy?
On the other hand, will Trump’s “shtick” of personal insults eventually get so old that his support will fade into the sunset before November 2016? Beats me!
>> Im not sure a non-politician, especially one who doesnt seem to have any strong history of political opinions, is going to be able to do much <<
I think your skepticism is justified. If DT should be elected as POTUS, he very well could turn out to be a “man without a party” — a loner who might be undercut at every turn by both parties in the Congress and by the civil service. It’s hard to see how a loner like that could even begin to control the immensely complicated monster we call the “federal government.”
But on the other hand, maybe Don’s frequently outrageous talk and well-honed Barnumesque bluster are mainly just hot air, done for “show” so as to lure naive voters into his lair. If that’s the case, he might eventually govern as a calm pragmatist with no real goals other than to keep his name in the headlines. Maybe he’d just go along with whichever party controlled the Congress.
In any event, now is just too early to make a plausible guess. And based on my years of experience, I gotta say that prediction is normally a very difficult task — especially when it involves the future!
Des Moines register.
And Trump is at now 61% likability and going up according to the Des Moines Register poll.
Januray? Obama is renaming months too?
