A Response to Free Republic Trump Critics
Vanity

Posted on 08/31/2015 12:43:37 AM PDT by Behind the Blue Wall

Why Trump?

1. Illegal immigration is the only issue; if it's not stopped soon, America will become like California -- a demographic one-party state.

2. Politics is about name-recognition and none of the other candidates besides Trump has the name recognition to challenge Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.

Therefore, Trump is the only candidate with a chance to win who has promised to do the only thing that matters.

The name of the game is not dodgeball. Here is the quote I called you on:

‘Once you drill down, illegal immigration is desired by those who feel government has a role in all things in life....jobs, poverty, civil rights, healthcare, etc.’

How about explaining that bit of lunacy, rather than changing the subject?

Where on earth are all of the juvenile, pre-pubescent, middle school posters like you coming from? You’re polluting what is meant to be a serious discussion board with your silliness. Stupid “gotcha” comments and irrelevant insults add nothing to the discussion. You don’t seem to realize that those things not only reflect badly on you, they can many times give away your age or at least your mental one.

Donald Trump is striking a long silent chord with millions of Americans. If you don’t agree with them; at least spend some time articulating why you don’t instead of merely insulting them.

Fwiw, and yes, it’s anecdotal...
..... While camping in the mountains of western North Carolina the other day, we were having lunch outside with the owner of the camp, and a very knowledgeable and thoughtful game warden ( friend of the owner) came over for a chat ........We avoided politics for several minutes.....but somehow the election came up....
And he said.....unequivocally, absolutely.....Trump was going to be our next President!!!
You have to know law enforcement is fed up with the status quo.....and are eager to vote Trump in!!!!!

Well, that big red mush of his (shades of orange) tends to let me think he has high blood pressure.

Perhaps you are correct in thinking Trump is lying about having low blood pressure usually. Consider that he may NOT be lying about it.

Agreed, those are actually far more significant problems than demographics, which in and of itself shouldn’t be a problem. It is a problem when the majority of the people who are becoming new citizens vote Democrat based on their identity, as opposed to even considering what side they most agree with.

It is you who is reading something into what I posted.

I am trying to understand why people support illegal trespassers. When you look at those people who support illegal trespassers, you come to the conclusion that they are believers that government should have a role in everything in our lives.....jobs, poverty, civil rights, etc.

These are people who think economic success from government, not private enterprise. These are people who believe if government is not involved, it is not legitimate.

These are the people who are the biggest supporters of crony capitalism....the collusion of government and business.....like the US Chamber of Commerce.

So, why are you supporting a man who made his billions via crony capitalism...the main driver of illegal trespassers?

Care to share which area of WNC in general?

2. Politics is about name-recognition and none of the other candidates besides Trump has the name recognition to challenge Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.

And Free Republic is about conservatism.

That distinction appears to have been lost on you. Given his past, it also certainly appears to have been lost on Trump.

Having to deal with a certain number of Trump supporters in recent days has brought back to my mind the famous quote from Jonathan Swift.

It’s now my tagline.

OK, I was too judgmental, keyboard quick.
You call me Alinsky-style, Saul, without even the courtesy of asking my history, my family, my heritage?
Over/about one post?
Are you about discourse or distinction, no matter, this is only a meeting place. Mistakes can be made, mistakes can be healed.

It is what it is. Your history, family and heritage don't have a bloody thing to do with it.

Deal with it, move on and have a nice day.

Trump is a reformed "crony capitalist" Lol, He was a real estate developer. Not a true blue crony capitalist like the criminals on Wall St that get granteed tax payer dollars.

To a certain extent your are correct Big Business (the real crony capitalists) want cheap labor so they buy politicians (2cd leg of the crony capitalist stool) like Jeb and Carly to see to it that the borders remain open. The Rats go along because illegal overwhelming vote for the communist Rats. And of course the media (third leg of CC stool) being mostly Marxists pander to illegals too. So you have correctly identified part of the problem.

An even larger part of the problem is all the benefits both state and federal that illegals get. I am pretty sure an illegal has to commit fraud to collect federal benefits. Prosecuting illegals for fraud would go a long way towards reducing their numbers. Prosecuting employers would also go a long way towards reducing their numbers. Neither of the two solutions above require new federal law. Building a border wall would reduce the in flow and would also send a message that illegals are not welcome here.

Schools are a local issue but long ago you had to be here legally in order to register your child for school. If that is no longer the law then change it so illegal children can not attend school here.

I find the "there is nothing we can do" attitude of many here very disheartening. Those that came before us did not have such a sorry attitude. We'd better put our Big Boy Big Girl pants on and solve this problem so the next generation gets an America something similar to the one we got.

Bravo Jim Robinson!

Just a little whisper that I hope reaches Jim’s ear; there’s been a strange influx of what seem like illegal FReepers around here lately.

They attack posters with silly personal attacks, post stupid photo shopped pictures of candidates they don’t like and fill up whole discussions with comments about clothes, hair, body image and so forth that add nothing to the discussion of the subject at hand.

There’s also been a noticeable increase in the posting of sensational garbage that didn’t used to appear on FR. I’m just saying....maybe Jim needs to do a little judicious “deporting” too. FR is one of a kind and too special to be sidetracked by a crowd of posters with a juvenile mindset.

Cruz is right for the ideal America, the constitutional, founding father America and if he is not elected the republic is lost in my opinion. An America built on capitalism will do well under Trump, but America was not built only for capitalism. A culture that sacrifices its unborn is committing suicide, whether just conceived or fully formed and in the birth canal. Remember Nebuchadnezzar

Daniel 4 (interpreting the king’s dream)

24 “O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king: 25 that you be driven away from mankind and your dwelling place be with the beasts of the field, and you be given grass to eat like cattle and be drenched with the dew of heaven; and seven periods of time will pass over you, until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes. 26 And in that it was commanded to leave the stump with the roots of the tree, your kingdom will be assured to you after you recognize that it is Heaven that rules. 27 Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you: break away now from your sins by doing righteousness and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity.’

28 “All this happened to Nebuchadnezzar the king. 29 Twelve months later he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon. 30 The king reflected and said, ‘Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?’ 31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: [ae]sovereignty has been removed from you, 32 and you will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place will be with the beasts of the field. You will be given grass to eat like cattle, and seven periods of time will pass over you until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.’ 33 Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.

34 “But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever;

For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35
“All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing,
But He does according to His will in the host of heaven
And among the inhabitants of earth;
And no one can ward off His hand
Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’

36 At that time my reason returned to me. And my majesty and splendor were restored to me for the glory of my kingdom, and my counselors and my nobles began seeking me out; so I was reestablished in my sovereignty, and surpassing greatness was added to me.

There is no doubt in my mind that Boehner is gone as speaker after the next election. McConnell seems to have a uncanny way of surviving when he shouldn’t so that’s a harder call. But I do not think he will be a GOP leader post 2016 election. “The Folks” really hate Boehner and McConnell, look what happen to Rand Paul for simply endorsing McConnell in Ky. Paul is toast for just being nice to McConnell.

First, you are, imo, making this WAY too complicated. There is no need to ‘drill down.’ The Dems want foreign invaders in order to bloat their voter base, assuring never-ending electoral victories in the future. The GOPe is simply doing the bidding of its master, the Chamber of Commerce, which again has the simplest of possible motives: cheap labor.

Trump is the only candidate promising a wall and mass deportations. Well, I believe I read that Santorum has a similar platform, but zero viability. Despite your uninformed potshots, Trump does indeed enjoy a reputation for doing what he says he’ll do. The vast army of former employees on his many projects, etc., say he is very conscientious and is known for his integrity. He is staking his campaign on securing the border and deporting the criminals—which are legion. He has made that commitment, and those who know him best say he will follow through.

Against that you have candidates who have not promised a wall/deportations. So the anti-Trump logic runs, don’t trust the guy who’s staking it all on these promises; trust the one/ones who never promised to do these things to begin with.

They are, excuse me please, insane.

ONLY Cruz is tested proven, confirmed, and is the right man for THIS JOB..

I have absolutely no argument with that, I was for Cruz long before Trump came along. And I would still prefer Cruz as President however the political reality is that Cruz is still in single digits so far as support is concerned, while Trump is leading the pack. I don't like that any more than you do, but the fact that Cruz and Trump seem to be on the same page is not at all a bad thing. It is an interesting political synergy, I do not accept for one moment that Cruz is taking his cues from Trump, Cruz is too much the independent and conservative thinker to simply rubber stamp what Trump espouses, and quite frankly Trump's ego most likely prevents him from taking a secondary (let alone subservient) position to Cruz, regardless of the superior intellectual power Cruz displays.

Having said all that, Trump has captured the imagination of the GOP conservative base, has pissed off the establishment ass kissers and 'business as usual' crowd, and no matter how Cruz and Trump interact, the fact they appear to be on the side of the AMERICAN people (not the Mexicans or any other pack of illegal invaders) bodes well for us.

I believe this without any doubt:

IF Cruz perceived one shred of duplicity, deception or just plain two faced behavior out of Trump, he would have nothing to do with him. Cruz is a straight shooter and if he's ok with Trump, I'm ok with Trump.

Trump is neither tested proven OR confirmed he will do what he says he will do..
And further HOW will he do what he says he will do..

I'm sure Ted Cruz has been contemplating that himself, not only about Trump, but about himself, as to HOW he will accomplish what he is seeking for our Nation.

Trump made no promise. Please show me the promise. Please show me where Trump says he will not run for re-election if the wall is not nearly complete and more than 80% of illegals are deported.

All Trump has offered are words that sound very good. I love his talking points on the subject. I love that he has changed the discussion.

Unfortunately, I do not see him promising anything.
