Washington (AFP) - Billionaire Donald Trump has soared in opinion polls for the Republican presidential primary, but inflammatory anti-immigrant rhetoric could cost him the crucial Latino vote in the 2016 White House race.
"What Trump is doing is political suicide," says Patricio Zamorano, executive director of the consulting firm Infoamericas.info.
Since launching his campaign in June, "The Donald" has catapulted to the top of the Republican polls, ahead of 16 other candidates, and at 28 percent this week he is streaking away from his nearest rival by 16 points.
Immigration has dominated the agenda since then, with Trump, 69, promising to build a wall to keep Mexicans -- who he has attacked as drug traffickers and rapists -- from entering the United States illegally.
He has also promised to deport the more than 11 million people living in the United States illegally and to eliminate their US-born children's right to nationality, which the outspoken Trump sees as a magnet for undocumented immigrants.

But at the same time, the mega-rich developer has drawn anger and scorn from Hispanics, the fastest-growing US minority group, numbering 54 million, and 10 percent of voters.

Legals hate illegals.....just ask them...
They wish
As exemplified by his poll standings.
Patricio Zamorano wouldn’t vote for a Republican if his mother’s life depended on it.
His ‘concern’ is bullsh*t...

Of COURSE Patricilatino Mexicozamorano would believe that.
La raza esta thicker than el poll-o.
Go Trump 2016!!! You got the idiots running around screaming their heads off...
Your supporters are lining up, faster than the spineless sissies can handle!!!

Not from LEGALHispanic immigrants; they seem to be very much in support of him. Its the non-taxpaying, criminal, disease carrying, welfare sucking illegals that don’t like him.
Anti-illegal is right and if the comments at the source are any indication of the LEGAL immigrant vote, he will get those as well.
Illegals are registered democrats and THAT should be illegal. :)
And his mother was an immigrant foreigner too.
You are correct, they do. More than US at times only due to the fact they’ve done this properly. To see lawbreakers just walk right by must burn their buns more than it burns ours...US
Or..... Not.
the hundreds of thousands of so-called immigrants from IslamoNazi or Islamicist Krapistans.....some paid for by OUR TAX MONEY thanks to Obama................
this is the chief immigration danger to America. These are born, bred, and trained to infiltrate and then terrorize and take over and subjugate Christian and other infidel countries
“but the ball game’s on the boobtoob, so not to worry”
(and yes, I am aware of all the illegals from communist Chinese, the Mexican gangs and all the rest....)
“Caesar Chavez, IIRC, coined the phrase ‘wetbacks’ when talking about illegals. “
Wetback was being used before Caesar Chavez was born.
Get lost and quit threatening those interested in enforcing ALL laws, even those against Latinos!
Gee, what a novel idea, we Anglos have to follow our U.S. laws or get punished but illegal aliens don't?????
You took my post!!!
I guess the Germanic tribes that poured into the Roman empire were “immigrants”.
A country with a very weak border is a country on the brink.
I HATE the words immigrant, dreamer, migrant and refugees when referring to mexican illegals.
They are hard workers on Staten Island and have relatively little problems with crime.
And they were good tippers when i drove a cab.
They could be solid citizens one day.
When they GO BACK, and try to come here the right way.
I would welcome their work ethic.
But not ONCE did i hear the reason they were here is because they love America.
They were poor, escaping from gangs, or the government.
The American dream was incidental.
That was a snide nasty thing to say; if you want me not to support Trump, you had better come up with something better than that.
AP is not on the same football field as the general population. The “news agency” has co-opted the vocabulary, the terminology and the zeitgeist causing everyone to accept their premise which is always akin to being asked if you have “stopped beating your wife.” The premise is always wrong and they never cease to pound it into our conscience hoping we do not see the consequences.
The writer is a Hispanic journalist for a liberal rag who is pro-Obama and pro-socialist. Do you really need know anything else?
Trump can march over the horizon at any time. He stays awake at night about this?
