(Flashback): Sweet deal for Donald Trumps gold course (backs of taxpayers)
New York Daily News ^ | May 29, 2014 | Juan Gonzalez

Posted on 08/30/2015 11:45:24 AM PDT by GeronL

In 2012, then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave Donald Trump control of a $236 million public golf course at Ferry Point and threw in a slew of giveaways that include a low revenue-sharing plan with the city and free water. No other city golf course enjoys these perks.

...

How many ways do you spell sweetheart deal?

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg apparently wasn’t satisfied with simply handing Donald Trump control over one of the most expensive public golf courses ever built in this country – the new $236 million, 18-hole Parks Department course scheduled to open next spring at Ferry Point Park in the Bronx.

Bloomberg’s aides quietly added a slew of financial giveaways in the 2012 deal with The Donald that no other city golf course concessionaire enjoys, a Daily News review of Parks Department golf contracts has found.

Those giveaways include: no concession fees for four years; then decades of extraordinarily low revenue-sharing with the city; tens of millions of gallons of free water annually; even a five-year delay for Trump to build a $10 million clubhouse, his only major capital investment in the project.

Start with the greens fees, the basic charge for a round of golf; virtually all of the city’s existing 13 public golf courses charge $48 per person during weekend peak hours, higher for non-city residents.

But the new Trump National Golf Course at Ferry Point plans to charge nearly three times as much — $125 per person.

Trump’s split of revenues with the city, however, will be far less than all other courses.

Hasn’t Trump spoken to the fact that he’s been on the other side of the aisle? Or don’t you actually listen to what he’s been saying.

I listen to every word he(trump) says... and fails to say...

I’m in rapt amazment.. he says he’s a crony capitalist AND some refuse to hear it..
Thats he’s NOT a crony capitalist is only in the imagination in that has best wishes for other than Donald Trump..

He said “I don’t NEED this” meaning running for President...
AND He’s correct he doesn’t.. need it at all..
WHy then is he running?..

Glad you asked.. Simply; To deny Ted Cruz the Presidency..
Under a Ted Cruz Crony Capitalism WILL BE OVER... caput.. history..

And him and many many of his past AND current friends will be out of business.. BANKRUPT.. if not in JAIL..

‘robbing taxpayers’...Who gives the ‘officials’ the power to make these deals? Who places them into power election after election? I have NO pity for these so-called taxpayers. They are idiots and deserve to be fleeced. As for Trump, he is what he is. For me and many others he is a monkey wrench, a useful instrument in DESTROYING the present structure of the ‘red party’ which is now just a shade of ‘blue’. As a monkey wrench it matters not what he might be, could be, or what he might or might not do. He is just a monkey wrench. A self-financing monkey wrench, beholden only to himself. EVERYONE else is for sale. Even Cruz and Carson(campaign financing anyone).

Adolph Trump’s popularity is based on nothing

Wow, you just lost any integrity/credibility you ever had with that post.

Disgusting, you should be ashamed.

1. I don't think Trump or his supporters have anything bad to say about Dr. Carson

2. When Trump's mission is to make good deals and profit from them, he's stellar at it. When he's problem-solving to save the US from ruin, he'll use his skills for that. So, what's your point of criticizing deals Trump has made?

3. Mr. Trump is going to be President Trump. Deal with it.

There is no such thing as right wing fascism or socialism. You prove your own ignorance and level of media brainwashing by your own words there.

Really... so my ignorance offends your ignorance?...
what a concept.. up yer game..

You do not know much about business deals, do you? Every smart businessman does that. A relative has a small company and was thinking about moving to another town. They were offered a terrific deal but no one wanted to move to this town. Common practice.

If Trump was a committed conservative, he would not get deals like this from liberal politicians.

Imagine if Rush Limbaugh wanted this deal....there would be protests and Bloomberg wouldn’t even take his call.

I don’t begrudge a businessman trying to get the best deal (within legal means) for himself anymore than anyone trying to lower their taxes as much as (legally) possible.

If a “business” deal is ripping off the taxpayers, it’s not business it is theft.

http://nypost.com/2015/03/29/donald-trumps-long-rumored-ny-super-golf-course-near-reality/

Nicklaus once said, after Trump took over and immediate results were seen: “We had half a golf course out there before Mr. Trump got involved. The problem was finishing it.

The contract was open bid after the city decided to get rid of yet another contractor who was ripping off taxpayers and not even delivering a golf course. Congratulations NY on having a Jack Nicolas signature golf course finally open. Tiger Woods was 20 when this project was started.

I would not discount that possibility, except for the fact that Cruz has been saying some very nice things about Trump. If Cruz had been ignoring Trump, or bashing him, I'd put more faith in your hypothesis.

So either Cruz (whom I admire) is either being hypocritical, or he genuinely sees Trump as a positive force for the country.

Wouldn't that be every other contractor on this project who failed to deliver the golf course?
