(Flashback): Sweet deal for Donald Trumps gold course (backs of taxpayers)
New York Daily News ^ | May 29, 2014 | Juan Gonzalez

In 2012, then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave Donald Trump control of a $236 million public golf course at Ferry Point and threw in a slew of giveaways that include a low revenue-sharing plan with the city and free water. No other city golf course enjoys these perks.

...

How many ways do you spell sweetheart deal?

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg apparently wasn’t satisfied with simply handing Donald Trump control over one of the most expensive public golf courses ever built in this country – the new $236 million, 18-hole Parks Department course scheduled to open next spring at Ferry Point Park in the Bronx.

Bloomberg’s aides quietly added a slew of financial giveaways in the 2012 deal with The Donald that no other city golf course concessionaire enjoys, a Daily News review of Parks Department golf contracts has found.

Those giveaways include: no concession fees for four years; then decades of extraordinarily low revenue-sharing with the city; tens of millions of gallons of free water annually; even a five-year delay for Trump to build a $10 million clubhouse, his only major capital investment in the project.

Start with the greens fees, the basic charge for a round of golf; virtually all of the city’s existing 13 public golf courses charge $48 per person during weekend peak hours, higher for non-city residents.

But the new Trump National Golf Course at Ferry Point plans to charge nearly three times as much — $125 per person.

Trump’s split of revenues with the city, however, will be far less than all other courses.

What Trump is doing for the course is not close what the traditional course managers are capable of doing.

...like a Northeast Republican, has been steadfast on tax and regulation issues.

Yeah, like his support for single payer socialized medicine, right?

He has said he’d repeal Obamacare, he’s talked about how horrible it is, and he’d replace it with competition across state lines, HSAs, and other free market solutions.

Your claim was that he has been “steadfast on tax and regulation issues.” What he has supposedly morphed into since he decided to run for president is a different matter.

You did hear him talk about socialized medicine in Phoenix, right? You know, where he specifically told conservatives sorry, we have to take care of everybody.

Time to Get Tough was out in 2011. But he’s advocated lower government spending and lower taxes for years. Again, he was an ardent supporter of Reagan.

Where he has waffled has been in coming out as conservative on social issues, which is totally understandable for someone trying to do business, rather than make himself a pariah, in Manhattan.

Also, such as with healthcare, he has, like a typical businessman, been susceptible to arguments of pragmatism, and what will “get the job done”.

No its your problem. Answer it.

On a political scale, how do you justify putting two totalitarian systems that are extremely similar at polar opposites of the spectrum? There isn’t a bit of sense in that.

Stop listening to the media and explain it. How do people get too free and suddenly become totalitarian? Its nonsense. The fact that you swallow it without giving it a second thought speaks poorly of your ability to think, not my ability to regurgitate Leftist propaganda.

Properly placed, all totalitarian systems are just a hydra’s head on the same end. At the other end of the spectrum you have free people, unencumbered by government control. So the opposite of Marxism might be libertarian anarchy, but it certainly isn’t fascism.
