(Flashback): Sweet deal for Donald Trumps gold course (backs of taxpayers)
New York Daily News ^ | May 29, 2014 | Juan Gonzalez

In 2012, then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave Donald Trump control of a $236 million public golf course at Ferry Point and threw in a slew of giveaways that include a low revenue-sharing plan with the city and free water. No other city golf course enjoys these perks.

...

How many ways do you spell sweetheart deal?

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg apparently wasn’t satisfied with simply handing Donald Trump control over one of the most expensive public golf courses ever built in this country – the new $236 million, 18-hole Parks Department course scheduled to open next spring at Ferry Point Park in the Bronx.

Bloomberg’s aides quietly added a slew of financial giveaways in the 2012 deal with The Donald that no other city golf course concessionaire enjoys, a Daily News review of Parks Department golf contracts has found.

Those giveaways include: no concession fees for four years; then decades of extraordinarily low revenue-sharing with the city; tens of millions of gallons of free water annually; even a five-year delay for Trump to build a $10 million clubhouse, his only major capital investment in the project.

Start with the greens fees, the basic charge for a round of golf; virtually all of the city’s existing 13 public golf courses charge $48 per person during weekend peak hours, higher for non-city residents.

But the new Trump National Golf Course at Ferry Point plans to charge nearly three times as much — $125 per person.

Trump’s split of revenues with the city, however, will be far less than all other courses.

I don’t agree with him on almost anything. I don’t believe him on other things.

Even his immigration plan doesn’t differ much from the Gang of 8 if you read the details. Pay a fine (cross the border) and hop in front of those doing it legally.

You do not keep up with business, do you. How do you think big companies locate to a different state? Tax incentives and other benefits. It goes on all the time.

Trump is a problem solver. Trump has bought politicians instead of being bought by them.

So, if Warren Buffett was running and saying these things, you would be just as happy?

Keeping American citizen’s interests ahead of everything else, is the MOST CONSERVATIVE agenda, above all. America needs to start winning again. Everything else is meaningless if America keeps getting screwed by China, Japan, Mexico, illegals, Obama, welfare legislators, neocons who cost us $2,000,000,000,000.00 in additional debt with the stupid Iraq war, and Iraq oil now in hands of ISIS. The list goes on..................

It’s much better to have Trump on your side.

As he says, there is no one currently in government who knows how to negotiate. I suspect what he means is there’s no one in government now who knows how to negotiate without making the deal about how to enrich themselves and screw the public.

Hitler/Stalin were socialist, Mussolini was fascist..

Yes, and both are leftist ideologies.

I'd like to see the before and after balance sheet on the Golf course from a year ago.

I guess anyone in the private sector who takes a contract to build something is a fascist now. As someone mentioned earlier, if that is how the game is played, which it is these days, who do you blame, the briber or the politician that accepts the bribe?

Trump is the biggest FRAUD ever

ALL politicians are psychopaths.

At least when you vote for Trump, you know you are throwing a skunk in their cozy old boys' club.

Anyone who terrifies the MSM and career politicians the way he does, is perfect.

He also happens to have a record of success in negotiations, building things and having a pair of cojones.

He also loves this country.
Maybe another Bush or Clinton? Because those are the real alternatives.

I’m okay with throwing Cruz out since:

1) He promoted fast track and is probably more in favor of TPA and the rest of those super deals than he has admitted.

2) He’s not told the truth about how leftist his wife really is and her involvement in Goldman Sachs, and supporting open borders and other schemes that sound a lot like TPA. He claimed her work was to provide “conservative” alternatives to globalist plans, but looking at her own writings, that’s not true at all.

3) He supports legalization of illegal aliens with the false promise that they will not receive citizenship. Except that you can’t give legalization to 40 million illegals and think you can permanently bar them from naturalization in this country.

4) He was for birthright citizenship before he suddenly became against it, and he admitted on Megyn Kelly that he really didn’t think that you could challenge birthright citizenship except by constitutional amendment anyway.

Buffet is a foot shorter than Trump, and Trump is 100 times more charismatic than Buffet. Buffet is irrelevant comparison. He has no talent to run for national office.

but...but...hosepipe says Cruz is so cunning!

If he is so cunning and brilliant, why can’t he get over 7% in any poll?

So your point is that you’d rather have someone like Bloomberg negotiating with the Iranians and the Chinese?

Well played sir!

There isn't a candidate in this race who doesn't have short falls....including Cruz and Carson.

IF Trump is the candidate against Hillary, Sanders, I will gladly roll the dice on Trump.

Who will you vote for?

Little old lady refused his offer of $2 million. Her grandson just sold it for 500k to Icahn. She never got the boot - and he did not try to cheat her.

She didn't want to sell. She didn't get the boot because she fought tooth and nail in the courts to keep Trump and his buddies in government from taking over her property to build a dang parking lot. He did try to cheat her, if she wanted to keep her home (and it was no eyesore) that was her business. It didn't matter if Trump offered her 200 billion dollars and she refused it, it was hers to refuse.
