Let's revisit that thought after a couple of hundred millions of dollars are spent on the airwaves attacking Trump from every angle.
They will kick up SUBSTANTIALLY after Halloween.
That's the "go to" standard for how the GOPe has prevailed in the past. And, when fighting for their lives, in a corner, they will reach for their most effective weapon.
It aint gonna be pretty.
Trump must be willing to, at least, match their combined ad spending. Maybe 1/2 billion dollars before the convention.
They are going to pull out all the stops here because Donald Trump represents a serious threat to their power structure. And there is no lack of ammunition. Anybody who has remotely followed Trump through the years will know that there is no end of juicy stories regarding his business dealings and his personal affairs that would sink just about any other candidate.
However, I think that with respect to most of the electorate, Trump is immunized against these stories. All these revelations will be seen as "Trump being Trump" and the talk will be "how we need somebody like that to clean up Washington."
Even in this forum, we have our group of anti-Trumpers who post here all day long and they are getting no love at all from the rest of us. Most of us have had enough of establishment politics and while we realize that Trump is no pristine conservative by any means, he is the kind of person who will definitely move the needle once he gets in. Trump is not a "go along to get along" kind of guy, which is what all our conservatives turn into when they get sent to Washington on our behalf.
Republicans now have control of both houses of Congress and can we name even one conservative victory since they got in? Has there even been one time when they went against Obama on anything?
The anger in this country is real and we will have millions of people who will overlook anything that gets dredged up from Trump's past in order to get him to the White House. It's kind of a scary thought but it's probably the only chance we have. We know we will not move the needle with a Republican Congress full of career politicians or an establishment GOP president like Jebbie Bush.
They would do that at their own PERIL! That could blow back on them big time , and it probably will.
Average Americans have HAD IT with political parties doing that kind of crap being thrown at their candidates and are going to cheer when Trumps throws it back at them!
