Donald Trump took his Republican presidential campaign to Tennessee Saturday, winning the Nashville Straw Poll at the annual convention of the tea party-backed National Federation of Republican Assemblies.
Trump won with 52 percent of the vote, CNN reports. It was not immediately clear how many of the 16 others seeking the nomination were on the ballot.
In his morning speech, the billionaire businessman praised the tea party's efforts to hold the federal government accountable and discussed how the group has been discredited by the Republican establishment.
"You have not been treated fairly," Trump said, according to CNN. "People talk about the tea party, and you talk about being marginalized?

cavaet.....
tennessee is not a conservative state even though red
while there are lost of us tennessee conservatives, mainstream GOP candidates tend to win out over the conservative candidate
The media and most politicians have been saying 11 million for years. That is a bold faced lie and they know it. It’s at least 40 million by now.
Instead of targeting our own citizens for petty crimes I say put a bounty on them. Pay law enforcement a bonus for every one they catch and deport.
Good list sir.
I’m looking at this whole Trump thing like this: I know the GOP will stab me in the back because they have already, several times, therefore I don’t trust them.
I really enjoy what Trump is doing to the status quo and how he has shaken the GOP elitist tree exposing the bad apples....but can I trust him?
At this point, I’ll have to lean toward Trump, but we have a long time to go still.
At least it will be an entertaining election cycle!!
The left will go judge shopping and find the judge who will say we cannot deny schooling or medical benefits to children here. The leftist judiciary is the leftist’s partner in destroying this nation.
What’s going on with the Twitter Feed for these guys?

They report that Trump won the Straw Poll, then at some point Pastor Rafael Cruz spoke and they were voting rounds of candidates for the nomination, and Cruz beat Trump in the last Round of voting 79-26.
Are these the same people that voted Trump 52% to Cruz 24% in the Straw poll, but when it came time to “nominate” a candidate, they chose Cruz or is this 2 different events at different places?
Yup, that is exactly what happened here (and more) in Calif.
Now whites in California are a minority.
Think we will get special treatment?
Affirmative action turned on it’s heel.
That is very interesting and makes sense.
It would be nice to see more about that.
I just knew it. All those Trumpers just got burned...Chop you low Trumpers!
Go Boosh!
Yeah man! We wouldn't want to give up all the gains Republicans have made by falling into the Trump Trap!
Oh ho ho! Yeb got nothing. I don’t feel so all alone in the world, seeing these polls. Cream rising to the top, Trump and Cruz.
Me like!!! Especially the eliminations.
What a knee slapper!
Btw I saw this small group of overweight woman lesbians at some fair the other day. They were near the goat pen, and they're holding up signs chanting, "Hillary for President - Pant Suit Power".
Pant suit power baby!
Right. The way Obama "needed" to get more specific in order to get elected. Hardly.
Right. The GOP is about the GOP. Americans are looking for someone who is about THEM.
All I can speak for is myself not voting for a blank check any more than I would for Obama although I’m willing to bet more Americans feel that way than did in 2008.
I wish these candidates would get this info out. I did not know Trump was in Nashville. I also didn’t know Ben Carson was recently in my city of Franklin, TN. I saw it after the fact in the local newspaper.
Guess I need to get motivated!
IMO, a RINO, is someone who love politics more than America. That is not Trump IMO. I think Trump is absolutely sincere about “making America great again” and his first foray in doing so is blasting political correctness and the anti-masculine popular culture - badly needed in America. Strong on defense and at least dealing decisively with illegal immigration. He has also said he wants to eliminate corporate tax (no such thing, really - a corporate tax is simply a hidden tax on Americans becasue the tax cost is passed on to the consumer with higher prices).
Where Trump is off target is:
- raising punitive tariffs to deal with economic symptoms which fails to address both the actual causes and effective solutions to our economic issues (hint: the REAL economic culprit is the $4 trillion mostly unconstitutional federal government and their forced minimum wage, union protection, and tonnage of costly, wasteful, dead-end, useless regulations.
- graduated tax and actually wanting to raise upper-end taxes. EXACTLY the OPPOSITE of what we need. We need to nuke the 70-zillion-page tax code and replace with a simple flat tax, somewhere between 10-15%.
- mixing up his personal love for women and their health with the constitutional limitations of the federal government which does not include authority to meddle in healthcare at all.
Trump may be the beginning of the way out of America’s Obamesque quagmire, but America will need a strong leader with a Cruz-like vision of putting the federal government back into it constitutional cage and giving the country back to the people.
Trump doesn’t seem to quite get that what made America great once and what will make America great again isn’t more government, but FREEDOM: the ABSENCE of government and replacing dependence on man with a faith, trust, and dependence in God.
I don’t think Trump’s a born-again Christian, so we should be praying for him. He may be close.
From what I can tell Lincoln became a Christian AFTER he was in the White House.
Understood, but the double standard make me want to ralph.
