Donald Trump took his Republican presidential campaign to Tennessee Saturday, winning the Nashville Straw Poll at the annual convention of the tea party-backed National Federation of Republican Assemblies.
Trump won with 52 percent of the vote, CNN reports. It was not immediately clear how many of the 16 others seeking the nomination were on the ballot.
In his morning speech, the billionaire businessman praised the tea party's efforts to hold the federal government accountable and discussed how the group has been discredited by the Republican establishment.
"You have not been treated fairly," Trump said, according to CNN. "People talk about the tea party, and you talk about being marginalized?

Trump knows how the RINOs Operate—You expect the Commie-Progs to act that way—but from their Allies in the GOP it can be savage (Just ask sarah Palin) and unexpected. Trump will not be blindsided.
Well, and remember that every audience hasn’t heard the message yet. The Bible says “faith cometh by hearing” and hearing and hearing, not “having heard.”
Trump =52%
Cruz = 26%
Trump + Cruz = 78%
This is a Duopoly market.
Trump + Cruz blows away the opposition.
I see a merger in the future
Here is what I want to know:
Is he all talk or will he really again make our enemies fear us and our friends trust us?
Will he really change the economic/trade balance of power in which we are currently getting shafted?
Will he be able to bring factories and good jobs back here?
Will he really go after Hillary with the gloves off?
Will he really stop illegals from working and cause their self-deportation? (We are not capable of rounding up 11 million people, even though it is the right thing to do).
Will he go after her rapist husband and talk about their war on women -— he needs to do a news conference with Broaddrick and Willey.
Has he really made a Reaganesque conversion to conservatism?
Is he really pro-life?
Is he really a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment?
Will he appoint and fight for true conservative justices to SCOTUS?
Will he call out Dems every time they say and do outrageous things?
Will he fix the tax code?
Will he treat vets as the heroes they are?
Will he push school choice?
Will he work to destroy the teachers unions?
Who is he going to choose for VP, Atty Gen, Sec of Def, and Sec of State?
The GOP stabbed the Tea Party and Sarah Palin in the back. That tells you all you need to know about the Republican Party. Trump needs to watch his six at all times. The GOP is not to be trusted.
I have similar concerns.
But we sure know the ‘vote more Republicans in’ doesn’t work. Handed Boehner the House and he gave conservatives the finger. Handed McConnell the Senate and he gave conservatives the finger. They lied. They were even negotiating with Obama before the last election.
Something has to be done. Likely, most in the current field of 17 are more for the status quo than not.
Of all the people running for the position of POTUS, Trump alone has a long documented history of successful Chief Executive Officer experience.
One could view him as a mixture of the best parts of Hank Reardon and John Gault, absent the angst and agenda, and with a much more healthy amount of testosterone.
I prefer principled Alpha males in most top leadership positions.
Not very PC of me, but this election has critical national survival consequences, in the real world, as it exists today.
Absent another clearly perceived alpha male POTUS, this nation, and the entire world, will descend into absolute anarchy. It may already be too late.
I think he did...We'll just have to wait til after the election to put a name to it...
If Trump has any consultants they're likely telling him that...First, they want to make sure we don't forget what his message is and we need to get used to it/them...And secondly, if he goes silent on something for just a little bit, one or some of the others will latch onto it like it was their own idea, like some of them already are...
I think he intends to lead an insurrection against the GOPe and take over the party. The GOPe remnant will have to be the ones forming a third party. The Republocrats?
excellent list Doug! I want to know too, because I have a lot of doubts...
Just dumbfounded. Tea Partiers voting for a RINO. .OK, an angry RINO.

That’s an answer to some prayers right there!!!
Amen to your idea! Let the GOPeeers go form their own party,,Trump is in the GOP and that’s how it’s going to be.
Others will just have to “Deal With It!”
He seems rather aware of the fact you pointed out. In fact, he mentions it pretty regularly.
TSUMAMI
How many of these answers do you have definitively from another candidate?
None.
I think if you get 60% affirmative, you’ll have your guy.
At one point something he said made me laugh out loud. He really pokes a lot of fun at himself in an endearing way. I watched “Patton” today on TCM and there are some similarities.
