(CNN) Donald Trump is taking his colorful campaign to Nashville on Saturday, where he will court a constituency that some say he is tailor-made for: the tea party.
He will compete in a presidential straw poll and address the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, a group that boasts it was "the tea party before there was a tea party."
Trump's appearance is highly anticipated at the conservative gathering: As a candidate, he's hitting the same notes -- anger at conventional politics, contempt for Washington and distrust of special interests and lobbyists -- that propelled the tea party movement in 2010.
With his fiery rhetoric and utter disdain for Washington, the billionaire real estate mogul has already captured the interest of many tea partiers, including former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, who praised him for having the "guts to say it like it is."

So, you are trying to tell ME what to do? It sounds like you are the one who should head over to DU - liberals love to tell others what to do. I know all about Trump’s past, and he was a registered D for 8 years. Now, he is 69 years old, so I figure he has been voting for 51 years - most of that time as a R, he was registered as in Independent for a while and also a member of the Reform Party. So, NO - he hasn’t been a D longer than a Republican. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it - oh,you, the uncouth one. I was a D many years ago, as were many on this forum. So, we changed our views and saw the light. Of course, those were the days before the Commies infiltrated that party.
A big thanks to Rick Santelli for starting the ball rolling...
I can see that he’s capable of getting some of that done—depending on what sort of congress the people vote in.
I think Sen. Cruz could do most of it, too
IMO, they make a dream team—in what ever order the voting public chooses.
I didn’t tell you what to do. Where do you get such an idea. I just suggested you ought to be careful who you decide to vote for. There are many unknowns about Trump that you need to consider before pulling the lever.
Take a chill pill, bro.
I can’t remember where I heard it.
Someone on the radio said the Democrats are controlled by the unions and attorneys, while Republicans are controlled by the Chamber of Commerce.
while Republicans are controlled by the Chamber of Commerce. All (and I do mean ALL) but one.
Yep the GOP is going to get shattered into a thousand pieces and the GOPe will do it then blame Trump and the Tea Party Conservatives for the mess. Mark my words.
I am going all in for Cruz until and unless he loses the primaries.
